Super great but too much info
The cards were super helpful and informative. I love that they are broken down by topic. Each individual card is rather lengthy so it takes some time to get through even small sections but the review is definitely helpful for the exam. There were some large chunks of cards that were not necessary for AP exam review (the domestic and foreign policies of all the presidents over the last 50 or so years, etc) but I feel they will come in handy in studying for college level government and political science courses. The cards are also numbered and have a table of contents, which is amazingly helpful. They are also hole punched in the corner and come with a metal flip ring that can hold a chunk of cards at a time for easier transportation of a subject or so at a time. I would definitely recommend these cards. I would suggest getting them at the beginning of the year and using them to study for tests as you go, pulling out the extraneous cards along the way so that by the time the exam rolls around, you are familiar with the cards and have the ones you really need to know pulled out.

These cards were just what my daughter needed!
My daughter took the U.S. Government class as a junior and decided to try her luck on the AP test. She only got a 2. She felt she'd done well on the government portion but knew little about the politics questions that were asked. Senior year, we convinced her to try the AP test again. She was fearful, as it had been a year since she'd taken the test and she hadn't done well. We bought her these cards and said, "Study these hard for a week and let's just see how you do." She did and ended up scoring a 3, earning her college credit. She liked the fact that she could remove the flash cards from the ring. As her week of study progressed, she removed the card for those topic areas she had mastered. I highly recommend this for those who need review or who might be taking the test for the first time. They really helped my daughter!

these have been great in the day to day studying and I'm sure ...
So my son loves these cards. We bought them after he bombed his first test.. Doing poorly on a test is not typical of him. His teacher does test using AP standards and likeness of questions. So after the first test we decided to take some action and see what is out there to help him. I came across the study guide and these cards. He likes the cards a lot because you can just grab and use the ring to have the current chapters on hand.So from his first bombed test to getting the 3rd highest score on the next test, these have been great in the day to day studying and I'm sure will help in the long run for the ap tests in May.

Not useful for CLEP
I'm not going to leave a bad rating since these cards are really well made and are probably useful for the AP exam (obviously), but anyone looking to buy these for the CLEP exam shouldn't bother. These cards suck for CLEP prep. I went through a lot of them and they tend to focus on a lot of modern politics (ex: 2004 party platforms, Bush foreign policy). They do not seem to focus much on amendments/court cases/general procedure. Buy something else if you plan on studying for the CLEP exam.Sent back to Amazon for a refund.

These generate great conversations!
I'm a political freak and it drives me crazy when I read that college students don't know anything about political history of even their own country. These sit on my coffee table most of the time and make for great conversations. My kids (adults now) laugh at me, but they do know their history! I recommend these and they are great hostess gifts and stocking stuffers

Love these!
These cards are so great. They are filled with information (sometimes too much) but they're so helpful. I really enjoyed studying because I thought using these flashcards was fun and they are way better than I thought they would be. I highly recommend these as they were so helpful to me and i felt I did well on the AP test because of these.

and probably better in the long run
Do yourself a favor and use Quizlet for your flashcards. I self-studied the AP Government exam last year, and got a 5. You don't need to buy Barron's if the material is free online, trust me!Now, that being said, the cards are very detailed, as with all Barron's, but making your own flashcards or using online ones made by other students would be more cost-effective, and probably better in the long run.
