Medela Swing Flex Single Electric Breast Pump - Compact Design, Featuring PersonalFit Flex Shields and Phase 2 Expression Technology

My manual breast pump appeared to be giving up the ghost - I wasn’t sure if it was the pump or my supply giving up on me. I bought this whilst on sale with the hope it was my old pump giving up. This is easy to put together and apart to clean/sterilise. It’s relatively quiet and is more comfortable than my manual pump. The controls are very easy to use and respond quickly if you want to slow it down/speed it up. Would totally recommend and although it’s expensive it works brilliantly so in my view is worth it. My only annoyance is the measuring part starts at 50ml on the bottle provided!

We had a really bad latch due to a lip tie and I struggled a lot with breastfeeding. I bought this pump after using a manual one for a week and getting a really bad wrist! We chose medela because its the same one I used at the maternity hospital. The pump is fantastic. The suction is excellent with a wide range of strength to choose from and I can easily pump at least 80ml per breast. Dad can now do a night feed, which is great! Super easy to clean and sanitise. My only issues are that you have to hold it in place so stuck to the sofa a bit, and it only comes with one bottle. I was given a couple of medela bottles that fit by the hospital thankfully, as they're really expensive to buy! Really helped us keep going with breastfeeding. 2 months in now and very grateful for this pump.

I used the Symphony in hospital and was able to loan it at home, but I wanted a portable pump to take with me or to pump while holding the baby after feeding (I use the hands-free bustier). Initially I was surprised how noisy this pump is (compared to the Symphony) so it might not be ideal if ultimate discretion is important for you, but after using a few times it doesn’t seem to remove any less milk than the Symphony with which I was pleased, I feel like the suction is powerful enough for me but also gentle. It’s comfortable, compact, easy to assemble and clean. Personally I found the clip on the back of the motor useful and seemed to stay quite well on leggings - it would be more secure on something with a thicker waistband, but it stayed fine enough for me to get up to answer the door for example. There is also the option to put a tie through the loop at the top. It initiates with the first phase to stimulate let down which is effective for me. I would only say that Medela would be better to supply with the ‘old’ hard plastic flanges/breast shields (not the soft silicone) - I use my flanges from hospital as I find the new silicone flanges leak. All in all I was pleasantly surprised and makes for a good basic pump, if it’s not on the mains however this pump eats through batteries, so I’m going to try the Freestyle which I think will better meet my needs for a rechargeable and double pump unit.

The medela swing flex is great, easy to use, say to clean, has great suction and can be used cordless with x4 AA batteries. It comes with everything you need to get started. It is compact so it is easy to have with you on the go. The only thing is I found the breast shields didn’t last long before needing replacement. However these are easy and reasonably priced to replace. It comes apart into four pieces to clean, but it has to be fully dried of to get the right suction again. It has adjustable settings so you control the suction making it great for all. This is great product and great value especially as I was using it x8 in a day in the beginning.

Much better than cheaper pumps. After giving birth to my firstborn I been told to only get cheap pump at the start. I purchased one tempted by good reviews. What a mistake! Using cheap one sooo put me off pumping! Medala comes with 2 sizes of breast shields where other one only came with one which was way too big for me. As a total noob I was not aware of it and keep hurting myself and only getting minimal amount of milk. Also this one have fewer pieces making it easier to clean. There are only 4 parts to wash. Also with this pump Im able to express much more but most important it does not hurt while using it! Yes you need power source or batteries but definitely a win for me in comparison with cheap ones which might have build in rechargeable battery. Now when went back and read reviews for the first one I realised most of them goes like “ its good because its cheap, good value for money” might be the case for some but for me Medala was worth the price and I lost 50 quid on cheeper one which is now in the box and gave me PTSD.

I bought this as I was shown how to use another kind of Medela pump in hospital. The suction is reasonable, but no matter which size funnel I used, and no matter how much I pressed the funnel to my breast (and you’re not supposed to press hard as it can stop the flow), milk would be suctioned back up the funnel and would leak out all over the place; down my breast and on to my bra / clothes. Really disappointing - especially I was struggling with milk supply issues and combi feeding - so every last drop was precious. I would not recommend. It just added to my frustrations, which led me to quit breast feeding full stop.

Really impressed with this. We had a hospital-grade Medela unit on monthly rental and needed a more cost efficient solution. We tried a cheaper breast pump by another company and it didn’t work so opted for this Medela version and am mightily impressed. It is only slightly less powerful than the hospital-grade version but the fact it’s smaller and can run on batteries makes it so much more usable especially as my wife can quickly express when she has a spare half hour. In hindsight we should have opted for the Medela brand in the first place knowing that their units worked for us but am really pleased now we’ve invested in this version.

I bought this breast pump with high expectations but I was sorely mistaken. Firstly the pump is one of the more expensive on the market so I expected great things but was disappointed to see this is not comfortable or easy to use, you have to hold it in a certain position or it stops pumping and this is time consuming and uncomfortable and problematic because of this reason it has stayed in the cupboard after only 3 uses . If you are considering buying which if I could advise you I would say don't waste your money go for a more inexpensive option and probably get a better or similar result but if you are considering it is pain free and easy to understand how to use.

Good pump for the price. I previously owned Medela freestyle, but with third baby it final died, couldn't fix it in UAE though. So needed a replacement. This pump has cheaper finish to it, if to compare with Freestyle model, its much weaker suction for me and flexi flanges are terrible to my opinion i prefer the classic once. Otherwise get the job done well in pumping, takes longer time as well and you have to be near socket to use it. For this price point rechargeable batteries should be included as well as set of classic flanges for an option!!!

Happy and satisfied, pumps well and very powerful. I haven’t tried with the battery but connecting to electricity works well. Highly recommended

Purchased this last month ie October 2021 for my baby. Drastic reduction in suction capacity within a month of use.It worked fine for first 15 days, then there was gradual reduction in suction capacity , now it's so bad that the simple silicon breast milk collector/milk saver attached to the other breast gets more milk than this breast pump while pumping.Please be very informed before choosing this pump.It may make your child suffer because of this bad product. 👎 👎👎

Was opened box and the motor was not working well. So had to return
