Festool494369 Kapex Miter Saw Crown Stop With Base Extension

I happen to love these Kapex extensions and Crown Stops. Bought 2 and they are high quality light weight casting, with a considerable amount of machining required to get those smooth surfaces. They line up perfectly flush with the Kapex table and are very supportive and stable. I will be adding 6 foot extensions to both sides of the saw using these to mount the extensions to the saw table height for handling longer pieces of trim.I don't understand why people complain that these stop are not long enough for long pieces of crown, of course they are not designed to handle 16 feet pieces of crown, you will have to add your own choice of long extension for those types of applications. Like everyone else I will replace the plastic individual stops with a larger one piece jig using the same hardware.These items like all Festool products are not inexpensive but they are high quality as expected and they will return a substantial amount of your invested dollars, should you decide to sell them at a later date.

Though described as an extension of your base, they are not flat with the table of the saw. They also can not be levelled to change this fact. When I explained to Festool that a straight edge on the saw table showed a large gap, they said that is not a problem because it is not a reference surface. These may be great for cutting crown, but not suitable to extend your base if you have an expectation of a level surface to cut on. The positives are easy mounting and the slot to hold extra clamps. However, I am not sure if it is a great idea to clamp to a surface not at the same level as your saw table.

Fits and works as intended. First generation attachment should have a R and L but only one sides is available now at least in the US.It can still mount on either side but it is backwards or flipped around.

There is only 1 in the box. You need to buy 2 if you want one on each side. For that I was disappointed. Quality and finish is great as always with all Festool, but 220.00 for crown stops is a little crazy. I am using these to make a larger wood support for my kapex.

What can you say about festool stuff, It is made by Germans, tested and perfected. Do you own a Kapex? do you want to cut crown molding? here is the product you need to get the job done. They also add on some extra width to the saw.I recommend getting 2

This helps to provide a clamp for repeatable cuts on shorter pieces of timber wile use into the Kapex 120 REB. It adds a solid base to either side of the base. Plus you can use the Festool clamps in the groove to add extra clamping
