Fastcap PS-16 16-Feet Old Standby ProCarpenter Tape Measure

If like me you know every mark of the 16 hash marks of an inch by heart this is a great tape. It's a nice clean tape because the tape is not congested with crap a carpenter should know otherwise.It's has a nice feel. Sort of different from metal. It is metal but the tape has a nice coating over it. It also has a pencil sharpener. It also has a nice place to write down measurements. I use that and it is awesome. Great tape.

One of the best finish carpentry or cabinet makers tape. Note pad on the side and built in pencil sharpener add to the already comfortable user friendly shape of this fine tool. I'm a journeyman carpenter with 30 years experience and this is my favorite tape for finish work.

Write measurements on the side with a pencil .. erases easily and lasts as long as a good tape measure will last on the job.Has standard locking mechanism (which I prefer)has standard Pencil Sharpener build it. (round only)has blade hold button on the bottom so you don't have to use your finger to hold it in place while your feeding it. It becomes intuitive after a little use.Great design. I would call it medium sized and sort of chunky. It is not narrow .. nor is it stupid and fat like the fatmax nonsense that Stanley is producing now.

I'm a professional and I demand a lot from a tape measure. This is a quality product: easy to read, durable, nice idea with the writing space on the side. Once in while I even use the pencil sharpener. I do not love the belt clip, however. It can be replaced with a magnet or other clip, so no problem.Best 16' tape on the market.

I've used Old Standby for years. The feature I like the most is the belt clip mechanism. It is a spring loaded latch of some kind that you can press with your thumb. Easy to clip & unclip. This is very different that most others tapes which use spring steel clips.

I’ve been buying these tapes for years now for myself and employees in my cabinet shop, I would buy them by the case since they were so inexpensive. We finally ran out so I ordered a couple and cannot believe how the quality has gone down!!! Just not built like the the older ones, oh well, I guess that’s the way of the corporate world...skimp on quality to put a little more money in their pockets!!!

Love these tape measures, I like the pencil sharpener, the writing area and they feel just fine in the hand. I can buy these in the UK for a extortionateprice of between £34 and £48 that's quite a lot of money for a $9 price from USA. Still worked out cheaper for me including postage, customs etc to buy from US than UK.

I am an interior trim Carpenter and make hundreds of measurements every day. this is the Best/most accurate tape I’ve used to date. I’ve tried milwaukee, dewalt, Stanley, Stanley fat max win varying results. The only disappointment is that after a few months the end of the tape has folds and the push/pull accuracy is off by 1/16”. Overall very good tape

I am a cabinet maker, and I am picky with the measuring tapes that I like. I really love the white tapes for some reason. My eyes just like it better and I think it looks nicer.I was using the craftsman 16' white tape ones before, (which i also really liked) but they seemed to have changed their style, and raised the price.I've already been using the fastcap metric true 32mm for years, and absolutely love them!!So I thought I'd try out the imperial one, and see how I like it.So far it looks perfect to me. And if it lasts as many years as the metric ones, than I know I don't have to worry about measuring tapes for awhile.I am going to be buying more of these in the future, when my other measuring tapes start dying.

The locking mechanism did not work properly after much fiddling I got it to kind of work ok

The tape measure is a good size and feel. It has great features like the pencil sharpener and white area to jot measurements on. I like the clip a lot. What I don't like about the tape measure is the stand out is not very long. The best I've gotten so far is 6 feet which is half what my Fatmax can do. Also, the 0 to 1 inch measurements are next to impossible to make out. As a finish carpenter that first inch on the tape measure is really important. So it won't be my daily driver for those 2 reasons but might use it from time to time for drywall work or other tasks.
