Moccamaster Cup-One, Small Filter Coffee Machine, Off-White

This coffee machine is simply fantastic in every way; this is my second one from this company.

I love the simplicity of this machine. No menus or settings, no pretense - just great tasting coffee. Super easy to clean, small footprint and consistent results every time. Truly a great coffee machine.

It is a nice piece of engineering but it does not in my opinion produce very good coffee also after a week of use it started to leak water, I am afraid it went straight in the box and back to Amazon. I am willing to admit the one I had might just have been a bad one but not worth the extra money.

The Moccamaster Cup-One is a wonderfully stubborn little machine. It does not make twelve coffees. It does not froth milk. It does not have an app. It does not ask what your “coffee journey” looks like. It makes one cup of filter coffee. That is it - and annoyingly, it does it very well. The appeal here is simplicity. Fill the 0.3-litre reservoir, add a filter and your coffee, press the button, and about four minutes later you have a proper mug of filter coffee without having brewed enough to hydrate a conference room. For anyone who normally drinks one cup at a time, that is genuinely useful. The copper boiling element keeps the brewing temperature in the 92–96°C range, which is exactly where this starts to feel more serious than a cheap drip machine. The coffee comes out hot, clean and well extracted rather than tasting like somebody waved warm water vaguely in the direction of some grounds. Build quality is another strong point. The aluminium body feels solid, the removable parts are easy to clean, and the whole thing has that slightly industrial Moccamaster look that somehow manages to feel both retro and expensive. It is also remarkably quiet. No grinder screaming. No pump rattling. No steam wand sounding like a locomotive preparing for departure. Just coffee quietly happening. The obvious downside is the price. £249 for a machine that makes one cup at a time is objectively a little absurd. You are paying for build quality, consistency, the handmade construction, the five-year warranty and the fact that this is built like an appliance rather than a disposable kitchen accessory. Capacity is also exactly what the name suggests. One cup. If two people want coffee, congratulations: you are now operating a tiny café in shifts. But for a solo coffee drinker who values good filter coffee, simplicity and something built to last, this is excellent. It is expensive. It is specialised. It is almost aggressively uncomplicated. And that is precisely why I like it.
