High Tech Fabric Guard 30674 Works Great on My Cloth Convertible Top !!!
This product (High Tech Fabric Guard 30674) works great - 100% of the water now beads up and my cloth top looks better than new !!!My Situation:The very first time my brand new, light beige cloth convertible top got wet I realized it came from the car dealer and/or factory either untreated and/or seriously under treated because water just soaked right into the cloth as evidenced by the darker cloth color when wet.End Result:After applying two coats of this product 100% of the water beaded-up and rolled right off the top. Nothing soaked in at all - zero wet spots on the cloth top. (Since the top is a light beige color any wet spots would show up slightly darker in color.) Any water that didn't roll off the top was absorbed using The Absorber 51149 sponge-cloth available on Amazon or at WalMart.Process:1) I gently cleaned my cloth convertible top using 303 Fabric Top Cleaner (303-30550). To do this I first rinsed the top with fresh water, then sprayed the cleaner on & gently scrubbed using a very soft brush (I used Star Brite Soft Yellow Wash Brush 040013 available on Amazon). A stiffer brush or too vigorous scrubbing could damage the fabric, scuffing the threads and creating a fuzzy look to the fabric. I cleaned the top in slightly overlapping areas about 18” x 18”.2) I rinsed the top and allowed it to dry thoroughly.3) Using a 2" paint brush and small container of 303 High Tech Fabric Guard 30674, I applied the Fabric Guard brushing it on in a manner similar to painting. By overlapping slightly I made certain I applied the product to every square inch of the top.4) I allowed the top to dry several hours and applied a second coat of Fabric Guard.Notes:1) When applying the clear Fabric Guard liquid with a 2" paint brush it will start to have a slightly white/foamy appearance - this will go away completely and the product will dry clear.2) After each application I noticed a VERY slight, very fine clear crystalline residue on my cloth top. You had to look very closely to see it - it had just a little bit of sparkle to it in the sunlight. This brushed off quickly and easily & probably would have blown off the first time I drove the car.3) Some reviewers seem to have issues relating to getting the product on the car itself saying it was hard to remove. I didn’t have this problem. The few times that I over-brushed or got small drops Fabric Guard on the car itself I simply gently wiped it with a soft paper towel and it didn't damage anything or leave any residual coating. It seemed to wipe off 100% with a soft paper towel.4) READ THE LABEL !!! The first paragraph covers some surfaces that you CANNOT use this product on without causing damage. These include rubber, vinyl, clear vinyl, plastics, etc. Since the product's Material Safety Data Sheet lists the contents as Petroleum Distillates, just a wild guess but prolonged contact with this product may have a solvent effect on materials such as vinyl or plastic.5) I wouldn't purchase 303 Fabric Cleaner again – I think a bucket of hot water with a scant squirt of Dawn dish detergent would do just as good of a job. Of course, you will need to completely rinse the top and allow it dry thoroughly before applying 303 Fabric Guard.6) I have no idea how long my cloth top will remain water repellant after applying Fabric Guard. I plan on doing this process every 6 to 8 months or sooner if I notice any water being absorbed by the cloth top.

Beautiful Restoration of Canvas Covers
303 products are my go-to for all fabric cleaning and protection. This 303 was easy to use and when following the instructions I ended up with a stain free, high quality, beautiful restored 23 year old canvas cover. Needless to say the color did not run or stain from this product and I have full confidence the UV Protection will help keep this cover in good shape for many more years. Couldn't be happier as a new cover of this quality would cost over $4K. This cover came out looking so good my neighbors thought it was brand new.

great product
To me, this is the Gold Standard when it comes to outdoor fabric protection. I've used it on convertible tops and boat canvas. When first applied, it repels water just as well as a freshly waxed car. Can't go wrong with this stuff!

Like water off a duck
303 Marine Fabric Guard works great! I used it on my older boat cover that was leaking like a sieve. I put on 2 applications and the improvement was dramatic. The water beads up and rolls off the cover. I get some leaking if I leave a low spot in the cover during a heavy rain, otherwise, my boat is dry. Follow the directions and it's easy to put on. I bought a Petra 1 Gallon Pump Sprayer to apply the fabric guard, it was inexpensive and was the right tool for the job. Very happy with the 303 Fabric Guard.

Best stuff I could find
I was told by the marine store I originally purchased this product from that this was the best stuff on the market with low fumes as well. I believed them and tried it. Although this stuff won't prevent my outdoor patio cushions from getting wet under a down pour, they definitely would repel water droplets in a light rain. I only wanted some possible protection in case I forget to store the cushions away. Regardless, the product works and is simple to apply with low oder. The water beads up and protects against UV fading as well. I did not try other cheaper brands to see how they compare though. I would buy the gallon size, you will use more than you think.

Protection for Canvas Cloth Convertible Top - Works Great
I use this product on a canvas cloth convertible top and it works really well. If applied well the water really beads up and treatment lasts about 5-6 months before I feel it needs it again. Make sure the top is clean and dry before you apply this and the cleaner made by the same company works well for that. You need to apply this while outdoors as the odor is quite strong and it needs to stay dry for at least 24-36 hours so look for several days of good weather in the forecast (enough time to clean and dry it, then fabric guard it and dry it). It helps if the weather is pretty warm and the sun is out. I've tried different ways to apply this (have done this about 5 times now) but have settled on using a medium sized nylon paint brush to apply it. First I lower the top and then cover the interior of the car and the front windshield with a very large bed sheet. Then I lower the top but don't latch/lock it. Then I have a partner help me hold the sheet in place while I raise the windows almost all the way back up (this holds the sheet in place to protect from drips, etc.). They I use blue painters tape all the way around the edge of the back glass window as well to protect from drips. I pour some of the fabric guard into a small plastic container, put on some protective gloves, and then 'paint' the top. I'm not stingy when applying it, but I also don't put on so much it puddles. I'm looking for just really good saturation. I've attached some pictures of the preparation and the water beading a couple of days after application.

Boat cover beads water again!
Perfect solution to restore water beading off of sunbrella boat cover. I washed cover by hand (time consuming part) and let dry completely then simply sprayed on cover with pump up sprayer. Beads water like new.
