Love the easy installation of the Arlo pro 2
We love the Arlo Pro2 for our use. We monitor our driveway and our chicken house. The best thing for us (with basically low-medium technical abilities) is the easy installation and setup of the cameras, the software/application, the whole system and the day to day use of reviewing recorded video. As far as quality of the video I can’t judge fairly for I only have this one to go by but it’s clear enough to pick out individual chickens and car license tags. Night vision is not as clear. I do think it’s a lag in when it starts to record or when it picks up motion but it could also be a fault of poor internet signal in my area. But for the price, and no monthly subscription fee to pay and the easy installation it is definitely making our life a little less difficult. We know who is on our property and we can enjoy watching our chickens no matter where we are.

Great easy to use cameras
I want to address some of the other reviews and answer questions that I had before I bought. The batteries last about 3-4 weeks and are super easy to change. One camera is outside at about 25-30 degrees at night and works fine. It records about 100 motion clips each a day because the pets walk by. I don't have the alert tone turned on but I usually check in at lunch to take a look at my animals inside the house and outside. The microphone works and I can hear the radio inside. You can push the mic button on the Arlo app on your phone and talk through it.I wanted and got the better camera (I think 1080 dpi)see image. I felt it cost too much so I bought the refurbished kit with 2 cameras. The unit base and one camera worked but one camera didn't. It was so easy and free to exchange just the one camera. Happy with my decision . I bought an extra no name battery so I have one to rotate and it works fine. The video stores in the cloud and tapes over when it gets full. It holds about a week for me. I like to see if my Chameleon is drinking and they won't drink if you are standing there so the camera works great!

Great product with no fees!
Great product for the price. This is the latest version of the Arlo system that provides free cloud storage (7 days) and no fees which was the highest selling point for me. The pairing of the cameras to the Arlo base was a challenge since they weren’t detected during pairing but I read about pairing gets interference with the router so they paired well after I moved the base to the next room. The motion detection is great since you can change the sensitivity from 1 to 100 so you can aim your camera at the street and cars can not set it off if the sensitivity is adjusted lower. The night vision is great even in pitch dark, but it is only black and white night vision. One down point about the system is the 1080p resolution. It’s good for faces within 20 feet but reading a license plate past that distance is near impossible. If you need that much detail, go for the 4K system but you’ll need to pay the monthly fee for cloud storage.

useless system .... but nice video
First, the good: It is an easy install. Connecting the base to your app, and then cameras to the base is very easy. I had the base and 4 cameras set up in under 30 minutes. Install in place was relatively painless as well (I purchased the external mounts). But now that the cameras are in place and motion detection is working... I get endless alerts about activity in front of the cameras. I have the motion sensitivity dialed down to 1 (it won't let me do zero), and it makes absolutely no difference. I ran a test over a couple of days with the motion sensitivity set to normal (~65) and then a few days set at 1 and I received the same number of alerts (If my dog lifted his head, I was alerted and the camera recorded).Supposedly, if you pay for the subscription, you get a few additional features that can cut down the number of alerts. I am willing to pay for the subscription... but not $120/year.Also, while you can set up a schedule forwhen the system is monitoring and when it is not... you can only set it up for the entire system. You cannot set up individual cameras to be active at certain times. The entire system is on, or off. I would like to turn off the back porch camera during the day so my dog doesn't set it off, but I can't do that.Lastly, BECAUSE the cameras are so sensitive and constantly recording, the battery on my back porch camera is at 14% ... after 2.5 weeks. My side house camera that hardly sees any activity is still at 94%.So the system does what it says it will do... but the number of alerts and videos that it creates is unmanageable... and that much noise will make it easy to miss something that I really want to see.Overall, I am frustrated with the system and I don't believe it is worth this investment. There are cheaper alternatives that will perform about the same.

Good Product but..it DIDN'T LAST LONG
I purchased the "renewed" product. It works fine except instead of metal mounts, it came with magnets to connect the cameras. Don't me wrong, the magnets are very strong and they did the job of holding up the cameras. It was just a little disappointing. I guess when you purchase a "renewed" item, you may not get what is displayed in the advertising. The battery life was shorter than I liked so I invested in a solar panel and so far it has NOT disappointed. I get plenty of sunshine and it maintains the battery between 95 and 100 percent. I suggest if you do not want to be constantly recharging the batteries every 7 to 10 days (depending on motion, audio traffic), a solar panel will be a very wise investment. This is an update of my previous review...One of the cameras just crapped out. It will NOT sync with the base. I purchased new batteries thinking that was the problem. No. I guess when you buy a "renewed" or "refurbished" item, you get what you paid for. If I had to purchase the item again, I would buy NEW.
