Great for mobile cabinets
I have purchased a couple of these now to use in mobile tool cabinets in my shop. It allows me to run power to the cabinet, but I can easily detach the cord when I want to move them around. No having to worry about tying up cords to keep from tangling in the wheels or having a permanent cord sticking out when storing. They are pretty easy to use and seem quite sturdy. The contacts are exposed though, so just like any other mains voltage device, you'll want to mount them in some sort of a box to isolate and avoid a shock hazard.

Found them!
Hard to find these. Not in stock at any hardware store and I don’t know why! This one is just what I needed and works great!

Good Product
I don't have much to say about this... it is exactly as it looks. I used it to go right next to my amplifier. I ran a "dead" wire from my tv (in the wall and from the Datacom box) and over to my Amplifier (in the wall and to the Datacom box) this way I could plug my tv into the wall (behind the tv) and it would run over to my Amp. then from this Male recepticle I could run a short extention cord from the wall to a surge protector.. (important in Florida) This product is sturdy and easy to hook up the wires to... I recommend this product if I were to do it again.

unorthodox use as power inlet to camper
I wanted to make the fixed power cord for my pop-up detachable from the outside. It is inconvenient to open the unit just to pull the cord inside for stowage. I used this jack fixed to the camper side. It was easy to install as it fit nicely into the hole provided for the original power cord. The exposed prongs are not a problem since it hide behind a little door when not in use. Friction on the straight prongs is sufficient to hold the external extension cord in place without special mechanical fixing. This has been a simple inexpensive solution to make handling the power cord easier on my camper.

Leviton is a good brand, and Amazon is a good source
Without going to an electrical supply store, Amazon is the best source for this. The best cover is Hubbell/Raco 811U, available for under $3 at the blue big-box hardware store. You will have to drill two 9/64" holes in the cover, but it is otherwise a perfect fit. Get two #6-32 nylon lock nuts at the local hardware store (about 20 cents each) to secure the inlet mounting bolts. If your electrical box is only 1-1/2" deep, get a 2-gang 1-1/2" extension ring (about $3).

Good for a plastic body...
I was looking for the metal bodied ones but this is what I could find. Not bad for plastic. Since they are plastic I thought that at least two more mounting holes would be stronger and spread out stress of plugging/unplugging cords. I will not be changing cords often for my particular use at this time so they will work for me.

Used to safely add a supplemental power supply for my motorhome in the small powercord bin
Used to safely add a supplemental power supply for my motorhome in the small powercord bin. My first attempt was to install a male plug end dangling in the bin to attach to an extension cord, but it was always in the way. Once I learned the concept of an Inlet Box, I knew this was what I needed. Installed easily using a Dremel tool for slightly-enlarging the hole I already had, also to drill the 2 screwholes in the bin's wall panel.

Specialty Item
Need this to make a TV wall connection without cutting too many drywall holes for electrical connection. Hard to find specialty item and Amazon was cheaper than National DIY store. Ended up not using it and threw it in with all my other electrical crap. Leviton makes good products.

Very Rugged
The plug is made by Leviton, who make very good electrical items. The plastic body seems to be made of nylon which is very strong stuff. I used it to connect my generator to the emergency electrical system in my house.

Very durable and can handle outside use very well
I've bought tons of these over the years from Calgary wholesalers, but now I buy them from Amazon because of the better pricing and faster delivery.Mine are installed on cargo trailers to provide shore power to the trailer. They are very durable and can easily handle hundreds of thousands of kilometres on the highways without corrosion and problems. Will continue buying these from Amazon.
