Q: How difficult would it be to nail or screw this into a 4" x 4" wooden post?

Very simple it comes with a stand that fits into the bottom of the house you just screw that into the top of the post and slide the house on it.

Q: Will this feeder crack during freezing temperatures?

No, the feeder will not crack. I have 2 and leave them out all year. I live in Michigan and the winters are sometime very brutal. They've been out there for years.

Q: How much bird seed will it hold?

I think it holds about 4-5 pounds of seed!

Q: On the lighthouse birdfeeder: 1) Is the section right below the roof enclosed? 2) How many sides of feeder can the birds eat at?

The one I ordered is a little different then the one shown. So I'm not sure
