Accuracy in a well-researched volume
Not the typical "sports story." The birth of the Big Ten from the educational administrator's perspective, not the athletic director's, that still includes interesting anecdotes about the "heroes."

C+ Better about football history with an Illinois bias
An interesting first 100 pages about the links of college football to the war and Red Grange. Written by an Illinois history professor, it is too narrowly focused on the teams in that state. Not really written, merely a collection of a thousand references to other articles. A continued bashing of how football doesn't contribute to academics without telling how it funds every other Big 10 sport. No discussion about the greatest rivalry in sports? I guess the author wasn't even in the band as they benefitted as well.
