Fantastic short book.

Life goes by fast. Chasing dreams and money can make you miss the joy of every day. Even 2000 years ago people were doing the same thing. It is crazy that this was written so long ago and still applies today. Eye opening.

If you want to read Seneca, DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK.After a clever attempt to make the book's cover look like a "Penguin Classic" Edition, this "translator" took atrocious, bottom-feeding, valley-girl American English liberties with every sentence.Ex: In the original, Seneca writes "It was this that made the greatest of physicians exclaim..."Stevenson reduces this to: "As Hippocrates puts it..."I'd bet money this "translator" speaks as much Latin as I speak "Klingon" ...which is to say: none.He also adds full paragraphs of witticisms after Seneca's original writings END. These paragraphs are not found in the original. They are complete fabrications.Again, if you want to read Seneca, AVOID.

This is NOT A PENGUIN EDITION!!!! The cover makes it look like one. There are NO ADDITIONAL NOTES OR ESSAYS!!! Just the text of whoever translated this.

Being a three-time self-published author myself, I can give a review from experience. This person who is selling this book has taken the least amount of effort to profit from another man's knowledge. The person who is selling this book has put no introduction of who Seneca was. Additionally, the seller passes himself off as a translator but offers no credentials. For example, the book I bought from another a seller has an introduction, explains who Seneca was, has credentials listed, and top it off...even has an index.The lesson I learned here was to read reviews before making a purchase!

What the what??? My book has like 3 copies of the same translated version in one book. I bought it about a month ago and just picked it up and whoever put this book together did a super crap job. One of the sections even has the chapters out of order. This makes me wonder if I’ll be missing any part of the actual story. Will update my review once I actually read the book. At this point I do not recommend this particular book from this particular publisher.
