Serious Bongo
My fellow reviewers of this item have provided highly entertaining thoughts of topics like: Cellophane, non-functional computers, missing tracklists, poor german versions and regrets of buying the same recordings over and over. I agree with the annoyance of the missing tracklist and can only recommend potential buyers to browse the internet, as the tracklist indeed lurches out there somewhere. In this case, 'Cliff Richard & The Shadows' is to be taken literally. 50 of the tracks are by Cliff (occasionally backed by The Shadows) and 40 tracks are by The Shadows (albeit two of those are Jean Dorothy/Teenage Love by The 5 Chesternuts, including future shadows-members).You get a collection of singles A's & B's and EP's from the years 1958-62, including some genuine rarities - all in the best available sound quality. A CD first is the bringing together of all four tracks of Cliff's 'Dream' ep (1961). This ep is one of his finest (imo) with its jazzy-tinged approach by The Shadows, some solid evergreens and stereo sound to boot.I also bought this collection on the strength of the alledged inclusion of The Shadows' 'The Boys'-ep (1962). But alas, that was not to be. 'The Girls' from the ep has been confused with 'Les Girls' from the 'Summer Holiday'-soundtrack. Perhaps an easy mistake to make - but it's still of the kind, that Real Gone rarely makes. RG may even inadvertently find themselves in violation of copyright (as the 'Summer Holiday'- soundtrack was originally released in January 1963).On the funnier side: 'Bongo Blues' by The Shadows is claimed to be from the ep 'Expresso Charge'. If a film by this title was ever made, I believe it would have to be about a train crash.Let me conclude this review by expressing my ongoing need for a complete, british Cliff Richard EP-collection, of course omitting the ones that contained fractions of the original LP's.
