How Do Dinosaurs Say Happy Birthday?

Repeat purchase. My children had this story. Now buying for my granddaughter. This dinosaur series is good for children baby through second grade. Since this is a board book I would use for baby/toddler.

This is a board book and not as big as some of the paperback books from the series. But my great nephew who just turned 4 loves dinosaurs and he enjoys this book very much. The illustrations of the dinosaurs are fun and not at all scary for toddlers/preschoolers.

This weekend my Goddaughter's little brother is turning one. His parent's are throwing him an awesome dinosaur themed birthday party. This book is perfect for such an occasion. First, in full disclosure, I am the Godfather/uncle to a handful of small children, but I do not have any of my own. I come from a family of librarians who give books as gifts- so I have a good idea of what children's books work and do not work, and what they can take as far as abuse goes. But that being said, I want to put that that caveat out there to help appropriately shade my review. This is a board book- my only concern with the book is that the spine pops out while it is open. I imagine that an exuberant toddler may tear of the spine fairly quickly. But, that is half the fun of board books. They are meant to be enjoyed as a snack more than enjoyed as a literary masterpiece. I like this book for several additional reasons. First, it rhymes, which is always nice for kids. It helps them memorize the story. Secondly, it has some progressive ideals that are good to expose children to early. It using female pronouns through the book- so the story of the dinosaurs is told through questions and answers: Does she X, or does she Y? No, she Z's. Etc. It also features interracial parent's in one scene - you can see I have feature that picture with this review. And it teaches good manners. The dinosaurs don't throw fits or tantrums or not share- instead they help out and say thanks. It does all of this without making a point of it- so it normalizes all of these things early. It is a great little story that I think the toddler will enjoy, as will his parents. I would recommend this as a gift for all the young dinosaur enthusiast in your life. Bought this for my son’s first birthday, and it’s such a cute book. I can’t wait to give it to him next month.

This is the perfect 2nd Birthday gift for my grandson, who loves dinosaurs. The pages are colorful and the story is simple with a lot to look at on each page. I can't wait to read it with him on his birthday.
