Stant Radiator Cap Adapter, Black

I bought my Stant cooling system pressure tester at least twenty five years ago. Back then, the radiator necks were a bit more standardised than they are now, with a larger opening, and metallic tanks. My cars have mostly been larger model Toyotas and a few from Nissan. The important adapter of course, is not normally one to test the radiator CAP, but the system (where most cooling problems show). The tool originally used to fit onto the old radiators directly without any adapter, a good trouble free connection. It also came with a single chrome plated brass adapter for the occasional radiator cap pressure test. For many years however, I've needed to connect a Stant #12027 plastic adapter to use the Tool with my Jap make cars. This has always been a bit wonky and fiddly which has annoyed me, but has still worked and managed to not break or fail despite it's flimsy guise. While I've used the tester a fair bit and it's been an indispensable tool, I must admit to only rarely testing radiator caps. Buying a very occasional new genuine cap is economical and good practice, but in a commercial setting I can certainly understand the need to test the release pressure of different caps. I recently bought this #12021 adapter on Amazon for a low price. Unlike the 12027, it's a very simple device with no moving parts. It works fine and I expect to have no problems with it.This adapter fits quite a number of older model Jap makes, from Nissan R31 Skylines, to Toyota MX73 & 83 Cressida's, XV10 & 20 Camry's, to Mitsubishi Magna's, and Subaru Liberty (Legacy). These vehicles are mostly all mid eighties to late nineties, and none of them have a high pressure system.

I have a good Radiator Pressure Tester but had nothing to test the radiator cap.The Stant 12021 allowed me to use my tester to check the release pressure of my old radiator cap.The reason I wanted to know the release pressure was that the Top Radiator hose blew off the radiator and I wanted to confirm it was the cap that was at fault.It was the cap as it wasn't releasing at 16PSI but almost 19PSI, which on an older car (1997 Ford Escort) was enough to overpressure the system.GREAT addition to the toolbox.

Same dumb plastic item you would pay twice as much (or more!) for from any of the tool trucks, online tool shops are cheaper than the trucks but Amazon beat them all. All of these things nowadays are made of plastic. I use this on Subarus, at a Subaru dealership, on a daily basis, without any issues. Works perfect using a Matco cooling system tester, that "coincidentally" doesn't come with a cap tester. Just be sure the cap you're testing has a clean rubber seal, or it will leak. (same as all the others I'm sure-No, I'm positive) Also, add it to your cart for a few days to watch the price, when it's low enough for ya, go getchya some! Got mine under 11 shipped (with prime) and that can't be beat anywhere that I've checked....

What can I say about this part it’s straight up works and that’s all you need

The product works as advertised. I just wish for the price it could be made of stainless steel instead of plastic. All my other Stant adapters are made of stainless. It looks like the modern adapters are all plastic. I was able to perform a coolant system check with this adapter, I just don't know if the adapter will be up for the task years down the road. Time will tell.
