Strikingly neat little Lego dragon
I bought this for my now 6 year old son, who loves the Lego Ninjago theme. As you may know, Ninjago has a bunch of dragons in the overall storyline, with the four elemental dragons (ice, fire, lightning, and earth) playing a pivotal role in the second season (ninjas versus serpentines). Unfortunately, by the time we got around to Ninjago, the kits with the elemental dragons were already out of production, and some had spiked in price by 400%(!) on the secondary market. The four-headed Ultra Dragon could (and as of this writing) can still be found in a retail set (Epic Dragon Battle), but that one is between $90-100.The Golden Dragon comes from the third season (ninjas versus stone warriors and the Overlord), and at around $25, it's a much more accessible price point. My 6 year old, who has some experience with Legos, put it together by himself without any help and without getting frustrated, so the build seems fairly straightforward. The "blades" that make up the wings can spread or narrow, and there are a number of joint points that allow it to be put into different poses. It comes with a small green ball that can be launched from the mouth; beware that, like most small objects, this can and probably will go missing, giving rise to cries of "I lost my green ball and I need it!!!"The kits has two minifigures: a golden ninja (which is Lloyd) and a stone warrior. The stone warrior is kind of non-descript and definitely not as fun as the serpentines who came in the previous releases. The golden ninja is distinctive and I believe can be found only in this set.

Cool collectible
The media could not be loaded. I remember being elementary school and this toy was only $19.99 at target (I bought it back then), now 10 years later its over $100!!!! Thats crazy but I still love it

well done, LEGO
I'll admit it--I grew up with old fashioned legos that you just build whatever your little mind can dream up, so I didn't really *get* these new sets where they are designed to build just one very specific thing. Seemed like kind of a waste to me.I got this set for my son's 6th birthday, since he just loves Ninjago right now, and it has helped me understand the benefit of these sets. Instead of viewing it like free-form legos, I now see them as kind of a puzzle. I really enjoyed helping my son find the right pieces and watch him put them together following the instructions, and now he has this super cool Ninjago dragon toy. So I like having this dragon toy for him, and really appreciate the process of allowing my son to put it together himself. Very cool.My son really is thrilled with this set. He loves the Golden Ninja, the dragon, the bad guys. . . he was a bit disappointed that the catapult doesn't really launch the little lego dudes across the room, but overall, just very pleased.

Excellent set, holds together we'll even with mild play
I bought 2 of these back when the price was a reasonable thirty bucks. For that price it is an excellent set. Both my kids loved this and one of them liked it enough that it went up on his keeper shelf instead of in the community Lego bin.A good rule of thumb is approximately 10 to 15 cents per Lego piece is a good deal for a Lego set. Unless it has a Lot a really specialty pieces like animals, dinosaurs, etc. Then you'll look to pay a little bit more than that.

My son loves it
This was a gift for my 7 yr old. He adores it, but it took him less than half a day to complete the dragon and once it's built it may as well be a figurine rather than legos. I miss the Legos of my childhood, where creativity is paramount and instructions on what to build were NOT included.Still, my kiddo is very happy with it a couple month post-Christmas, so we'll give it 4 stars.

Any Ninjago fan knows...
I purchased this item as a gift for a Ninjago enthusiast and am extremely satisfied with the purchase. Although my nephew is 5 years old and the product clearly states the toy suitable for an older child, I do not regret this purchase. It made for opportune time of putting together the dragon, where my nephew organizes the bits and hands me the necessary parts. He can go on and on about the different ninjas and spinjitsu all while watching and occasionally placing bits where needed.PROs:-opportunities to learn-helpful guides-easy to connect partsCONs:-as with all Lego sets, small parts that must be monitoredI made the purchase and am accountable for any lost bits. I am satisfied with this set and would recommend for any Lego Ninjago fan.

Awesome set!
My 7 year old loves this! His favorite feature is the ball shooter. It came with a small ball to place in the dragons mouth and squeeze his jaw and it shoots the ball across the room! It really is fierce...but the ball is fairly soft so no worries unless you have an extremely mischievous boy :). This is also a set that my son built by himself. He actually got two for Xmas and has dualing dragons! The only con for me (OCD Mom) is as with most lego sets, it is awkward to store unless you have plenty of shelf storage. It isn't huge though but the wings span outward.

I was really dissapointed but my son was happy
We got this just a few days ago. It is really easy to put together and the dragon is very"impressive" HOWEVER..... Lego are supposed to be all plastic as to be durable. I was shocked to find that dragons head (top and bottom pieces) were either rubber or silicone or some other flexible material which is in no way as durable as plastic, which means that after some taking apart and putting back together and possible rough-play (after all its a fighting dragon:)) the head part of the toy may be torn or damaged. I did not expect this from LEGO...Rubber parts? Really?Other than that the set is as expected. My son just "had to have it" when it came out. So he did.
