Review: Excellent, well-designed light. Buy several, you'll want more than one - I own four Streamlight Siege lanterns that use three D cells. I live in a rural area where power outages are common and can last three hours or, during a hurricane or ice storm, up to five days. The Streamlight Siege, for me, is the best solution for times when the grid fails. However, I was very reluctant to purchase the Siege AAA due to the lower run time and output. I bought one anyway and I'm glad. First off, it's tiny compared to the regular Siege, which lends itself to backpacking use. Also, it is always ready to use because you can use disposable lithium cells which don't rupture, so you leave them in it when not in use. Lithium AAA cells also have a 20-25 year shelf life. That makes the Siege AAA a great option for keeping in your home or vehicle for "emergency" use. It's not as bright as the regular Siege, but it puts out plenty of light. I've been using one on my porch in the evenings and even on low it puts out a good amount of light -- more than I generally need. Like all the lights in the Siege line, it's robust, changing batteries is simple, it has multiple ways to hang it and the globe is removable so it throws light everywhere, which is not unique, but still a great feature. The AAA version will never replace my regular Siege lights, but I'll be buying a couple more so I have one in each vehicle and one in my wife's nightstand so it's always there and ready to use. (Yes, power outages at my house are common enough to warrant that.)
Review: Very good small lantern - This appears to be an updated version of the Rayovac green lantern which was very popular about ten years ago. Getting the batteries properly installed in that lantern, was interesting, to say the least. First of all, this lantern is surprisingly small, which is not a bad thing. No, you are not going to get the same level of light from it, that you would get from a full sized Coleman propane fueled lantern. Those full sized propane lanterns are heavy, run dangerously hot, and you have to deal with those extremely fragile mantels, which fall apart if you look at them wrong. This lantern is surprisingly bright, for its' size. If you are looking to illuminate a large area, I would buy two. There is a low, medium and high setting. Plus a "low" red light setting, and a "blinking" red light setting. All modes are easy to access via a green illuminated push button. The outstanding feature, in my opinion, is that it operates off of three AA batteries, and rechargeables' work fine. I am using Sanyo Eneloop batteries, which last just about, forever. The lantern is rugged and well made. You can remove the top portion and hang the lantern upside down for a very bright direct light. This lantern would serve well during a power outage or for any night time activity. I haven't used it long enough to determine how quickly it will run through batteries. If you use rechargeable batteries, you can just slap a fresh set in, when necessary. Overall, a good quality product.

I own four Streamlight Siege lanterns that use three D cells. I live in a rural area where power outages are common and can last three hours or, during a hurricane or ice storm, up to five days. This appears to be an updated version of the Rayovac green lantern which was very popular about ten years ago. Works well for my uses (in a school with no power) so it worked well for a construction site super sturdy and paired with rechargeable batteries does the job
