God's Psychiatry: Healing for Your Troubled Heart

I have read and reread this book several times. Makes a great gift too.

This is a book I have read once every decade, since I first discovered it back in the 1980s. It is biblical, insightful and inspirational. I rate it right up there it C.S. Lewis' "Mere Christianity."

Learned more about God & stirred a desire to draw even closer to Him.

Definitely the best Christian book I have ever read (with the exception of the Bible itself, of course). If you are a person of faith, this book will change your way of reading the Bible and make the verses come alive like they never have before. I first read it twenty years ago, and I cannot count the number of times I have read it since--or the number of copies I have purchased to give to others.Again, if you must purchase one religious book (aside from the Bible) let it be this one.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I first bought this book about 15 years ago. I am still buying it and giving it to my clients. My favorite part is the section on The 23 Psalm. It takes the psalm and breaks it into sections and explains what this means to the sheep. It shows the care that the Shepherd, Jesus, takes of His sheep and what effects it has on the sheep. I take the images of the Shepherd and how these actions would make the sheep feel cared for and protected and relaxed and comforted and put them into a mental picture or movie. Then when I am afraid or upset, I recite in my mind the 23 Psalm and picture the green pastures, and the still waters and the valley of the shadow of death where His rod and staff comfort me, and I am able to relax and rest in the assurance that God is in control and He is watching over me.The other sections are very good too. Explaining in laymen's terms what each section means. Very well written and thought out. Excellent book and a great therapy for the mind.

This is a great book, I was introduced to it by my mother and I am sure that between the two of us we have brought well over 150 of these books because when we buy them for ourselves we find someone else that this book can help. I have even used it to do a Summer Revival 3 different times over the last 20 years, and people have ask me for the book (mine) or where they can find it for purchase. My mom is gone now but I still have continued to give my book to someone that needed more than my self. Of the three that I ordered this last time I have already given one of them to a fellow minister, and I do it with joy!! thank you for making it easy to get this book!!! I suggest this book to all that have or that are going through a storm in their life.

I have heard of this book for years. Now that I have read it, I have heard this book for years in the sermons and lessons of many a preacher and teacher. You will no doubt smile at the recognition of some of the stories. Read this book and enjoy it. Learn from it. Take it to heart. It is good medicine.

It is interested to read a book that was written in the 1950's and see it so applicable, today, in 2016. I love his other book: All Things are Possible Through Prayer...another 1950's book that is right on target for today. Your should read it.

I read this book as a new christian years ago..I have given away several copies through the years. Still today I think that this is the best book and a book that everyone should read and have in their library. I plan to order more as they become available.

What a total surprise this book was. I will gladly add it to my reference books and treasure it. Amazing!

Old but very in context today

Great book. Very spiritually inspirational. It would be a good reference for studying the 23rd Psalm, the beatitudes, the Lord's prayer, and the ten commandments.
