USB connecter necessary if needing to hear and speak with your headphones
I had ordered Sennheiser headphones from the university bookstore where I attend grad school. They came without the adapter with USB. Actually, they came without any adapter. I purchased my first adapter and for those non-pros like myself, learn from my mistake. I needed these for online school so I needed to speak and hear. I first ordered the attachment with the phone jack not realizing that it is a one-way connection (audio only, no ability to be heard on your microphone). I found this on Amazon with the USB attachment (2 way connection) and now everything is resolved and the expensive headset I first bought is now able to be used.

Excellent results on Nuance Dragon NaturallySpeaking Professional 15
I got this to use with a Sennheiser CC510 monaural headset microphone.Apparently that's not just a USB connector but, I believe there is a soundcard inside.Some product descriptions have called it a soundcard.I'm using this as a wired back up to my wireless Sennheiser MB Pro microphone.I am a family therapist so I produce a great deal of documentation. I'm getting very good accuracy with Nuance Dragon NaturallySpeaking Professional 15 on a PC.Very highly recommended.

Works greaaaat
It works great, I use it every day, it is noise-free, I can hear customers smoothly, no one is complaining about my children's noise, and no one ever notices that I work from home.

Doesn't work with MS Lync
This may work to use your headset as a VOIP, but it does not work with MSLync. The speaker-microphone are read as the same device when setting up in the Lync interface. Lync itself will not let you select Sennheiser as the mic and the headset when using the usb connection adapter.fyi...Sennheiser CEDPC1 Easy Disconnect adapter uses separate mic/headphone input jacks on the pc and it does work perfectly with Lync.

stopped working after 2 years - no service
Just stopped working after 2 years. Light does not go on on USB dongle. No customer service for this item as far as I can tell. Also sticks out too far (the dongle is long and rectangular) so it jiggles in the port and it's easy to hit it by accident depending where you have it plugged in.
