Great Guide for Aspiring and Current Authors
Learning about book publicity is a daunting task. I am a marketing savvy guy, yet book publicity has unique factors and insider information that may cause an outsider to fall short. Lissa does a great job at walking an author through the entire process all while giving solutions to the author rather than general advice. All authors should read this even if it is only to help communicate more effectively with their current publicist.

Crucial for First-Time Authors!
The Savvy Author's Guide to Book Publicity is essential for anyone who is new to the world of book promotion. With Lissa Warren's insight, I was able to target the strategies that are more likely to be successful and avoid the ones that waste time and money. I also admire Warren's forthright approach in helping authors see the realities of publishing and promoting a book. No, we don't all get rich and we don't all appear on Oprah! Book promotion is very difficult and not as glamorous as it appears. Every author should read this book before he or she even begins the journey. Well done, thanks!

Asolutely necessary for the first time author
I have dozens of friends and acquaintances who have labored years to get a book written and published and then, when their book came out, were hurt and baffled that their book wasn't promoted and didn't sell. The Savvy Author's Guide can help first-time authors help realize their life dreams of getting their book out there into the hands of thousands of people. The little secret that The Savvy Author's Guide lets you in on is that there is a short window, three to six months, after a book is published when the tide of public opinion will lift the book and it's sales, or it will sink to oblivion. Lissa Warren provides hand-holding advice for the author who needs to switch gears from laboring for years behind a computer to spending a few months out on the hustings and in front of the spotlight promoting his or her book.I know most authors don't have a lot of money to spend on buying books, but this is one you will need.I tell my new author friends that if they only buy two books, one should be The Complete Idiot's Guide to Getting Published (by Bykofsky and Sander)(which, for some reason, is weak in the chapter on book publicity) and the other is this book, the Savvy Author's Guide to Book Publicity.

Sold this one rather quickly
This book did not stay in my personal library. I sold it to the half-price book store not long after I purchased it.This book did not fit my needs as a self published author.

You definitely need to read (and buy) this book!
This book is a fantastic resource for traditionally-pubbed and self-pubbed authors like. I'd give it six stars if I could! All authors would do well to buy this book ASAP and put it at the top of their resource list.

Recommended by my Publicist!
I've read a lot of books on various marketing strategies. But when I finally got a publishing contract, I wanted to understand what exactly a publicist does and how I can help. This is a great book. It would be helpful to anyone who is planning to be published; whether traditionally or self-published.

This is the best on PUBLICITY for books...
OK, I'm the author of four books, and the last three were with a division of Random House - a wonderful publisher who hires an outside publicity firm for me, as well as supports me with great people inhouse...so why do I need this book? Because as Lisa Warren says, "If you've written a book, you have a new job...and the name of that job is 'publicist'." Then she goes on and gives incredibly practical tips on how to go about doing your 'new' job. And she writes from a position of having been on the inside in publishing, and the outside as an author. I loved this book right from the introduction - where she tells the story of one author - (which happens to be the story of thousands of authors I know). Filled with great tips. A great book. If my new book makes THE LIST, we'll have to list at least come credit to Lisa Warren.
