A mighty big (but its really small) safety gadget that is amazing
THIS IS AN AMAZING GADGET! I swear by this little guy! I so wish I'd know about this device sooner, its that good! We had wanted something to show that someone may be at home when we aren't there. This is a simple (super simple) plug-in device to simulate tv being watched, esp in the evening/ dark . It works perfectly and is so so so realistic, crazy real. Easy to set up (plug in, set location, chose option of viewing, done!), small, movable or removable , easy to store and take out as needed. Genius. (pretty much giving this as gifts this year) Its that good. Great for realtors or home sellers, travelers, snowbirds, .....anywhere you want added security. this is a mighty BIG little safety item.

Really works as a deterrent, unexpectedly confirmed
I have had one of these for years. As they say set it and forget it. I leave it in a front bedroom of my house. I don't have to think about it, it goes on at dusk, stays on for the number of housrs set, and turns itself off. Reciently a new aquaintance who asked around where I live was talking to me and said, I saw your house the other night.(I did not give him my address), you were watching TV. I really did not know his intentions, and didn't let him know he actually saw a burglar deterent. I just let him think I was home watching TV

I love it.
Fantastic addition to a home security system. I’ve had mines for about a year. No problems at all. From the street, it really does look like a real television playing. I have mines setup in a guest room, and I placed it on a dresser (in the same spot and position I would put a real tv). I don’t have it directly facing the window. But, this thing is so bright, and realistic, you don’t need to. I had it on a timer , but decided to get fancy. About a month ago, I plugged my fake tv into a smart plug. So, now, I can turn it on, no matter where I am. I can also set a regular timer on my smart plug, or set a countdown timer on the plug. This allows me to turn the fake tv on where ever I’m at, and set it for a countdown timer to go off for however long I want it on......or, I can set a countdown timer to have it come on also. I also turn it on and off when we’re home too. Using this in addition to my smart bulb in our guest room, it gives our always empty guest room a lived in appearance (at least from the outside). Anyway, my point is, there are so many things you can do with this thing. Unfortunately this is the world we live in. But, for the price of this thing, and the peace of mind, it’s a fantastic addition to any home security system.

Flickering "television" for an at-home look
This unit is small; the size of a point-and-shoot camera. It has bright LED lights in front that flicker from blue-white to a few colors (red, green, blue) to project the light as if a television set were on in any room. It gives the appearance of someone home and watching television, thus a deterrent to any home invader who doesn't want company while they ransack your place. It has a good feature; goes on at dusk (sensor at top) and off four or seven hours later. Pros: Cheap and easy. Well, not so cheap. It's about $20 more than it ought to be, in my opinion. We're probably shelling out that extra twenty for the feeling of security. But it's not a very elaborate or complicated device. Takes the power of a nightlight, so is energy-sparing and economical to leave on for a period of time. Easy to use; on-off switch, electric cord, timer feature. Proven deterrent to criminals; TV means Person Home And Awake. You don't have to leave on a real TV on a timer. It's bright. Cons: I think it's a bit overpriced It doesn't have sound, of course. But you can leave a radio on a timer for "sounds of home" It has to be near an outlet--short cord. Works best behind a window shade of some kind so the flickering light shows but you can't peer in and see the fakey-fake-fake TV. Summary: reasonable addition to home security, liked by self-defense experts, not a huge investment.

Add a simple (cheap) DIMMER setting to the back--Too bright
Excellent product. There's only one improvement that's necessary: Add one simple thing: a DIMMER setting--too bright. Concept behind concept behind the TV is good of course everyone knows Fake TV is good of course everyone knows (trust me I own three, so I'm a fan but my feedback is that much more valuable. HOWEVER, here's the problem: since the obvious purpose of the product is a theft deterrent, and since thieves commonly stick out a house for a few days first, they will easily be able to recognize the difference between a much lower brightness of your regular TV and me five times higher brightness of your fake TV. this is the problem but it is a cheap fix for you just add a dimmer in the back so that the user can adjust to match the brightness of their own real TV so that it's less suspicious . Then you have the perfect product then you'll have the perfect product and theft deterrent . actually I have one additional awesome suggestion to add more value to your company: everything probably by design has a high action movie type of display (Always flickering a little bit too fast) always flickering a little bit too fast . My suggestion then is to randomize between different types of flicker speed "THEMES" every (Again randomize) 20-40 minutes since this will more realistically reflect real TV as people often switch between NEWS and documentaries (lower flicker rates) and action (your current is high action movies only). Another reason this is important is that because of the extreme I brightness in the extreme high action, we noticed that even with the doors closed etc. that this can contribute to the poor sleep and nightmares versus keeping it off at night which is precisely when we need to keep it on so the suggestions also solves problems as well as more closely approximate but more closely approximate a real TV viewing real TV viewing. In summary 2 things: 1. A brightness/dimmer setting; 2. RANDOMIZED "Theme" variations, where "themes" represent low speed flicker viewing (like dramas/news) vs higher speed (sports and action movies) at random for changing intervals that our minimum of, say, 20 minutes. This will make your product twice as good, and twice as realistic, with the least amount of investment.

Works great
They really do look like someone is watching TV in the house. I have high quality thick blinds and you can still see the Fake TV through them. Very cheap extra measure of security. I Highly recommend.

Very Convincing TV Simulator
For those times when my wife and I are out late or may leave our house overnight, I worried about the house looking obviously empty. I was using a simple lamp on a timer but we wanted something that would make it appear more likely that a real person may actually be inside. This "Fake TV" light (model FTV-11) is very convincing in my opinion. I am using this to simulate our 48" flat screen TV and it does make it appear the "real" TV is on. I had to experiment a bit with this light to make it appear like our TV was on. We have floor length, foam backed, insulated drapes in the room with the TV. With those drapes closed, I put this device right at the base of my TV and aimed it directly at the curtains. The "flickering" and color changing lights from this device did make it appear that our TV was on in that room and someone was home watching TV. It has even fooled our neighbors that know us. So far, we have used this for one overnight departure from our home and our friends in the neighborhood thought we were home watching TV. They are now considering getting one too. I am using this device with a separate electronic timer that is plugged into an electrical outlet so I am ONLY using the on and off switch on this device. I do not use the "turn on at dusk" switch or the "4 or 7 hour on" time switch so I cannot comment on those features. For me, using the separate electronic timer, this device works very well so far. I have not owned this long enough to attest to its reliability but if it continues to work as well as it has so far, I like what it does and would recommend it. As an added benefit, I have also noticed that just sitting in my chair and watching the flickering lights from this device can be even more entertaining than many of the shows and commercials now on TV. But I digress. My opinions on that will be for another "review".

AWESOME!
This item works flawlessly and is really easy to setup... Just open the box, plug-in the 110v outlet into the unit and into the wall and switch the device to the ON position and you're ready! It is ideal for simulating someone watching TV at home, while you're not there. This is really a good thief deterrent, as thieves would look out their target from the street, looking for which house does or does not have any activity... Think like a thief and you'll understand why this product is an awesome deterrent. The FakeTV device also have 2 options: One for Winter & Summer time (as night comes earlier in winter time)... Winter time, turn the switch to Dusk + 7 hours Summer time, turn the switch to Dusk + 4 hours This gives you the best energy consumption results while giving you more time of FakeTV activity! Luminosity sensor starts the countdown when the dark room have a luminosity of 0.5 lux.

Buen producto

Extremely effective at giving the appearance of being at home.
Saw this at a home show years ago but never bought it. I came across the flyer for it when cleaning up and tried Amazon and it is exactly as advertised. I have not used the timer features yet but the look and feel is exactly like someone is home watching TV. I may get a couple more for single friends who are concerned about such things when traveling. Works best with white / off white blinds, but obviously not so good if you have dark blinds, room darkeners, or shutters. Highly recommend.

Works great!
I set it up with a timer along with a few other lights on timers in other rooms. Much better than simply having lights on timers if you are away for extended times. Super easy to set up, just plug it in.
