I'm always squeamish about buying non-OEM batteries but given that this was going into a 13 year old laptop, I didn't have much choice. The battery arrived in good time and was well packaged. It inexplicably included a couple of screwdrivers; the 2008 MacBook Pro doesn't require the removal of any screws to remove the battery, so this was odd. The installed battery had a 24% charge on it. After conditioning the battery according to the included instructions the battery works just fine. Under Mac OS 10.11 and Apple's default power saving options I get about 4 1/2 hours of useful functional life out of it (web browsing, email, general productivity apps, etc) before it goes into hibernation mode. The battery is recognized by the OS, Apple's service diagnostics, and the little button on the side of the laptop that shows battery life.Time will tell if this battery holds up in the long run but so far it looks pretty good.

So I finally decided to buy a new battery after having a need to actually use my laptop away from my home office. The battery gives or takes about 3 hours of charge for me. It really depends on what you are doing when it comes to batteries, but I find it to be okay. When I first installed the battery the charge was at 98% capacity 4504 mAh according to cocuntBattery. The battery is designed for 4600 mAh. After calibrating the battery, I did 4 charge and discharge cycles, the battery was at 100% capacity 4648 mAh. Now after 8 cycles the battery is at 100% capacity 4875 mAh, which is great.

Purchased this battery to replace the OEM one which died. Dimensionally, it is just like the original and fits right into the battery bay. The run time is less than the OEM battery, but at this price point, you cannot expect to have OEM results. Got a little less than 2 hours before needing to be recharged. Not a long time, but enough for my needs.

A very old laptop had become a desk top because the battery didn't work. And now, voila! This battery changed it back into a usable laptop! Amazing!
