Review: Great Advanced Course of Study - Make sure you have mastered Book One before tackling this book. Mickey Baker holds nothing back and lays it all out to take playing jazz to the next level. Includes the finer things one needs to know to play advanced jazz ideas. Requires thought and diligent study. This book is loaded with sample musical ideas that can be utilized immediately upon study... takes at least six months to get through it the first tiem. I use it to expand my accordion jazz playing. The CordeenMan Review: A not so good player, best book for chords - This is a great book, along with book 1. Upper partials for smooth movement between chords. He wasn't a great player. The greatest books.

Not for beginners
This is not a book for beginners. You should know or at least be studying music notation. It was copyrighted in 1959 so the chord diagrams are a little smaller than what you see in most books now and don't show the fret numbers. It's ok if you just through it and put fret markers out the side like you find on your guitar. I'll need to learn music before I can get anymore than chord shapes out of this.

THE very BEST method for jazz guitar!!
As quiet as it may be kept, this book, along with the first volume, is the quint-essential teaching method for attaining the 'correct' point of view for playing jazz and "hot' guitar! I've had volume one for a number of years and have studied form it constantly, never finding it not to keep surprising me with the knowledge and 'formulas' presented here. THE very BEST method for jazz guitar!!

Good Follow up to Volume One
Although the layout of the book is somewhat dated the information is up to date. Depending on your current skill level and knowledge of jazz theory this book may be challenging. If you are willing to put in the time and effort this book will open some musical doors.

Just a charming interesting useful little book - like Book 1
Easier to get started with either of these two reasonably-priced Mickey Baker books than a lot of other jazz tutorials I've seen.
