### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works, but tweaks were necessary. No worries.
*by S***Z on November 26, 2023*

If your old SSD in your new enclosure isn't showing up in Windows' File Explorer, the enclosure may not be the problem. You may just need to do a few tweaks in Windows to get it working. This is perfectly normal. Your new enclosure is probably okay.I ordered two of these drive enclosures, one blue and one black, for two identical SSDs (for easy visual differentiation). The blue enclosure worked w/ the SSD perfectly after going into Windows 10> Settings> Control Panel> Disk Management and reformatting the mystery drive (old SSD in new enclosure) to NTFS. I tested it by copying a movie file to the SSD and played it w/ VLC and everything's working fine. The black enclosure, however, was another story. I ordered both drives at the same time and both delivered together in identical packaging, but my second SSD wouldn't fit the enclosure without minor modification. The mounting holes on the SSD's PCB did not align with the threaded mounts on the enclosure's PCB by about 1mm. I didn't want to return the product and delay my project so I drilled the SSD's mounting holes a tad larger (there are no circuit tracers there so only the PCB wafer is being drilled). It worked fine and the holes were now aligned and the mounting screws went in okay. Once the enclosure was reassembled and connected to the PC, I was not easily able to reformat the drive using the same method as the blue enclosure. I don't believe this is due to the black enclosure at all, but to the fact that the SSD likely had old Windows operating system files on it, as these old SSDs were previously an old laptop's C drive (in a RAID). Windows' usual methods of formatting the drive were all failing, so I googled around and found instructions on how to format an uncooperative SSD via Windows' Diskpart. It was quick and easy and the drive was finally cleaned and reformatted NTFS and working fine just like the blue one.You get what you pay for. Both enclosures are working okay for now. I will update if anything fails.I fully expected the issues with File Explorer not recognizing the drives. Any old SSD or HDD can present similar problems and can usually be easily fixed. Just google around for a solution.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ No issues; didn't fully test it for transfer speed but able to run Ubuntu from an installed SSD
*by G***S on November 2, 2020*

I bought this because I wanted to see if I had an issue with my SSD drive on one of my laptops or if my laptop stopped reading SSD drives. The box is generic and just has a label added as to the type of case it is. It came with what was described in the description; it comes with a short USB-A to USB-C cable (which also worked with my phone), some extra screws if you have the shorter SSD drive and a mini screwdriver. There are no instructions, but if you absolutely need them there is a snapshot of instructions on Amazon's site with the GREY enclosure. You only have to unscrew the 2 case screws on the side with the USB-C; I did have a very slight issue with opening it at first but it looks like there's a small hole that you can poke a small pin into to pop it open. Or a gentle tug with the USB-C cable plugged in with the screws removed may get it as well.I was able to put in my SSD drive in and was able to boot it via UEFI on another laptop (I had Ubuntu OS already installed on the SSD). It loaded faster than it did on the non-working laptop (to be fair the new laptop I used with the SSD had more RAM and processing speed) Also had purchased another SSD that I plugged into it and it was recognized without any issues on my Lenovo laptop running Windows 10 in addition to my QNAP NAS and an old Dell Desktop with Win 7.Plugged in and idle there is a slight bit of warmth but barely; i haven't really tried to see how fast it will access or transfer data. Just to be as un-scientific as possible I used a no touch thermometer on the case and it went up and down .1- .8 degrees while plugged in and idle with multiple scans.I'm not looking to break any read/write speed records with this; just figured it would be great to salvage a working SSD from a now determined to be non working laptop and keep using it for Ubuntu (web browsing, Steam games, other light stuff) instead of a USB drive on any PC with another OS already installed.I'm definitely keeping the case; I might either return the SSD drive I bought when I thought the old SSD drive stopped working or buy another one of these cases and use that SSD drive for portable storage.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This thing is perfect

I had a Samsung T5 external hard drive that the Usb C connection failed, and it had a ton of data on it that I wanted and didn't want to lose. I did some research and found that I could take the T5 apart (thank you Youtube) and it had a standard mSADA inside (this is different than an M.2 drive that you put into a desktop) so I ordered this enclosure installed the drive and everything worked instantly. No lost data, no huge recovery cost sending it off to be repaired, and it is just as fast as the Samsung was.At this point, I will just leave it assembled and treat it exactly as I had with the T5 drive.
