If not factory rejects / fake/ or damaged - they're GREAT!
The glasses themselves are GREAT (fitwise) --- even the KNOCKOFF / DEFECT / FACTORY REJECT version that I got in the mail. Now I am not saying that everything you get online is this way - it just so happened to be my luck. First off - I love Amazon deals, but in this case, some deals are just too good to be true. Saw these MJ Banyans for $159 from Direct_Express and Fulfilled by Amazon - so automatically I thought - Amazon is shipping these so they have to be real - not so much. Opened up the box and first thing I've noticed were scuffs on the brown sunglass case.. at first I thought - perhaps thats Maui Jim or Mountains (watermarked onto the case)- aahh no. just plain ol' marks that only mean that the hard case was damaged. After waiting a WEEK for these even w. Prime shipping - Bummed! - tried on glasses, looked great, everything right where it should've been but Extra Bright cloth pouch + print that wasnt as detailed as on the ones i have, which naturally started to set off alarms in my head - (I have few of these from previous glasses and material + print quality just didnt match). BUT stuff like this does happen - it's not a crucial part so could in fact change over time. Still, tried these on - and there was something about them just didnt sit right. I compared them to my Neutral Gray MJ-352-02's and sure enough these ones were a cooler lens. (grr) Then tried them on in bright daylight - as i was turning my head left - right lens / coating was making the glare worse - brighter, then some things, buildings - looked like as if I were wearing 3D glasses. It's as if though the polarization was rotated. To confirm my suspicion I called Maui Jim and based on their sample - which seemed a bit old - (mine said Patent No. 7717557 - which is indeed correct patent for Maui Jim, but theirs said (patent pending) - go figure ) everything else seemed correct. Still, I visited one of my local glass shops and compared - right away I could tell that Lenses were better, and for some reason so was the fit. - I've ordered another pair from Amazon and I hope that I will finally get the REAL ONES. If not then paying 220+tax just to get REAL ONES might be worth it - even for a hybrid gas is expensive dammit. P.S. IF YOU HAVE A LARGE EGG (FACE) and a BIG BRIDGE like I do - also try these - MJ-324-23 they actually fit me better but they are MORE expensive. (Definitely on my wish list)

Finest sunglasses I've ever owned
These are the finest sunglasses I have ever owned. I have a big melon and I have trouble finding sunglasses that fit well. Most that I have tried ride too high on my face. My previous favorite were Oakley M frames. The Maui Jim's are leaps and bounds above. Incredible clarity, excellent fit, super light, super durable. The light weight and grippy but unobtrusive temple arms really make for a a super comfortable set of shades.I love that they come with a very high quality hard shell case, and soft 'sack' case inside of that. I store them in that faithfully, and have managed to keep them like new for two years.Unfortunately I bumped into some protruding rock in a cave, and got a scratch on them, so now I am getting to try the repair process, which so far is really seamless and straight forward. Even if I have to cough up $60 for new lenses, that's very reasonable compared to Oakley's etc.

Amazing lenses
I have been a maui Jim fan for years, then I decided to venture and buy a classy iconic sunglasses that I see many celebrities wear, so I bought from amazon a persol wayfarer. I took the glasses out for an hour walk to test it, then I decided to use my old maui Jim for the second half of my walk. Lo and behold I literally said "I can seeeee, I can seeee, that is how the maui Jim sunglass lenses are, the finest optical correct lenses in the world by far. Upon returning from my walk I immediately put back my persol in the box and returned them, and went on a maui Jim buying spree. I had a hookipa, so I just received 2 diffrent color bi-focal hookipa, a maui Jim banyan, and island time, I installed in the latter once a stick on bi-focal from optx 20/20 after trimming them to fit my field of vision, and I'm a happy camper, my dellima now is which one to wear in each day. Very lightweight and comfortable too. Do your eyes a favor, go buy a maui Jim.

Frame looks cheap
Lenses and their size are great however the shiny black thick frame and nose guard ruins the quality appearance I typically associate with this brand.

Perfect Shades for the Large Melon
I have a huge head. Hyyyyyyuge. 8+ hat size. These fit my watermelon better than any other glasses I've ever had. Lenses are extremely high quality, crystal clear. Maui Jim's repair policy is second to none -- send them away to their factory with a $10 check, they zip 'em back to you fixed, with a new carrying case and microfiber festive baggy. I want to carry my baggy on my belt to show my support for Maui Jim but my girlfriend said those kinds of accessories are frowned upon. This is my second pair of Banyans. Lost my first pair somewhere in my adventures in the last couple of months; searched high and far for a month because I loved them so dearly. It was like losing an old friend to a new woman. Love you, miss you Bonya; hope you show back up in my life at some point. I had the tortoise shell with the HCL bronze lenses. Cuts through fog and heavy rain like butter on a warm knife. Or a warm knife in butter. Literally saved my ace many a time with fog x-ray ability.I went with the black frames w/ neutral grey lenses this time because they were cheap. I had another pair of MJ that I stole from my brother that were black/neutral grey, so I knew what kind of eye-gasm I would be getting in. The neutral grey lenses are perfect for sunny days, but still work extremely well with fog/heavy rain. I want to get them surgically attached to my face so I can't lose them ever again. I want to be buried in these sunglasses. I want Maui Jim himself to baptize my first born.
