Best all around grinder
UPDATE: After owning and operting the Cuisiant Electric Spice Grinder for the past 5 years, I still stand by my comments. The unit is still going strong. Still grinding spices. Powdering mushrooms and rosemary. Cloves and cardamon still are ground. No motor burnout - I definitely make it earn its keep. Can't recommend this unit enough. The Cuisinart line of kitchen products have never let me down. The Mini-Mate grinder I've owned for at least 20 years now and still is going strong. But since I bought it in the US and now live in the UK, I decided to buy a grinder here eliminating the voltage converter I had to use. Well this Spice & Nut Grinder has so far has proven to be as good as the original Mini-Mate. I put it through some torture in the week I've had it. I grow my herbs all summer to harvest and put away for winter. For several days I have been grinding basil, oregano, tarragon, coriander, cilantro, marjoram, etc. Rosemary ground down slightly so it is more friendly in food instead of twigs. Gave it a go around with whole cloves. Cardamom had its turn. While none of this spice grinders have a large capacity - which is good as you are able to control the degree to which you want things ground down [you don't want to powder everything] - it is fast so capacity is not a problem. Unlike the Mini-Mate where the top can't be cleaned efficiently because it is the motor, this Spice & Nut Grinder has the motor in the base, so everything that comes in contact with the food can be efficiently cleaned. It is also easy to operate by just pushing the lid down - which requires very little pressure. The unit will not operate if everything is not correctly locked in. For those that complain about a motor burnout, this is a small unit designed to grind as needed. It is not commercial grade, and not meant to be run consistently non-stop. Used mine for about an hour with no problem. Also, taking the lid off as soon you finishing grinding will create a suction as the items are turned inside as they are grinding. Lifting that lid before they settle [about a second] will have some things flying out. This item is a kitchen must. Having read other reviews - I will update mine as time goes on to see if the complains are an inherent problem with this model.

Delighted
So far so good, providing you do not make the same initial mistake as me - and try to use before reading the instructions! I tested this with almonds the day it arrived and they did not grind, but got stuck under the blade. I was ready to return it. However, I had read so many positive reviews that I decided to try again, so the following day I read the instructions and realised I needed to twist and secure the cup to the base. Once I did that, the almonds ground down perfectly. I am delighted, as my old Moulinex grinder has eventually given up the ghost after about 40 years. I shall be extremely lucky if this lasts as long, but at the moment I am very happy with my purchase. Selling points for me (apart from the good reviews) are that it fits on the shelf of my cupboard. Some grinders I have seen have tall bases that would not go into the space I have. The other very useful component is that it has two bowls - with lids. Excellent for a recipe that calls for ground nuts and ground spices. Overall, I am a very happy bunny.

Great grinder, well made
Totally happy with this grinder, does any type of nuts and spices. Very easy to use and clean. Powerful enough for all my needs so far without overheating. The process is fast because of the great speed. There are no settings needed, the desired size of the nut and spice particles is controlled by time. Good value for money and would buy again. Very recommended.

A good grinder, powerful and compact.
I have used this to grind dry spices, to puree ginger and garlic, to chop chillies and herbs and make salsa. It does a really great job generally. If I have one criticism it is that you cant put soft and wet items in such as salsa ingredients more than halfway full as it tends to leak juices down the outside of the container between lid and base however if you want to grind dry ingredients it is great. I bought extras as gifts so that says it all I think.

I love, love, absolutely love this little gadget!!
The size is perfect for me, not too large in the kitchen. It comes with two cups that can chop, grind, which both come with lids so you can also store what has been ground, in the same container. The cups for grinding are stainless steel, NOT PLASTIC. So that's another plus for me. I find it easy to clean, very quick. everything about it is straight forward and easy. I had to get the knack of twisting the cup onto the motor part and once I'd got that it was easy and fast. It grinds my linseeds in 10 seconds and around 25 seconds if want them super smooth and fine, which I do. I haven't used it for wet things so far but can see it would need to hold a lot less if liquid is used. I am using it every day and bought it around 10 days ago, so no idea how long it will last. Hope a long time. I have a Cuisinart food processor which I also love but this little grinder is my fav +++ by far.

Drive mechanism lets it down.
I'm sorry to have to write a negative review, but after only a couple of months use the drive teeth were so worn that the machine stopped functioning. This seemed like an excellent, powerful machine and was used for its intended purpose. Unfortunately, the drive mechanism is a weakness.

Grinds every spice I can think of
DISCLAIMER: I only use it for spices, so can't comment on suitability for nuts and seeds. I scrolled up and down the list of spice grinders, read every description carefully and even investigated some on the manufacturer's website to clarify some things, and this is the one I settled on following a positive review from a US reviewer on here. I'm so glad I did, because this grinder does really grind every spice I can think of. So-called oily spices (e.g. cumin) -- which are a no-no for some grinders -- are no problem for this grinder! It grinds actually quicker than the instructions say if you want your ground spices to have just a little bit of texture and is fairly easy to clean as well. Let's keep in mind though that this is made for household use, not for grinding tons of spices! I only grind about 2 months' worth of spice (about 1/2 of a jar available in supermarkets) of the spice I need to replenish and keep the rest whole (they don't go stale so quickly this way). I've also successfully produced my own spice mixes with just one grind for all that go in. The only downside for me is that it doesn't come with a cable storage space.

Excellent product, I use it much more than I expected
Excellent piece of kit, I use it for spices and seeds. It works quickly and is so easy! I always have fresh ground seeds and spices - they really do taste better than when you buy them ready ground. It doesn't take up much space and I keep it in the cupboard within easy reach.

After 5yrs still working
Going great since 2021. As long as we know it's capability and work accordingly, I guess it will work as is. One ddrawback is the plug as it is not for Aus wall sockets.

Mala experiencia al venir con una clavija incorrecta para su uso en España.
Mi experiencia específica con el producto por el momento es mala, ya que la clavija que trae es de tipo UK y no se puede utilizar en los enchufes españoles.
