I am still STUNNED
First of all 2 different people told me they did not know how I could even see to drive as my headlights looked so dim when they see my car pulling up at 6:15am to work in the mornings. I did not need glasses at all and could see just fine to drive and see at a distance until---- After taking a statin drug for a little over 1 month for high cholesterol I suddenly one night, could not figure out why I could hardly see the guide on my 48" TV. Thought at first my eyes were strained from reading, but NO. After an extensive eye exam I was stunned to hear I suddenly have cataracts on both eyes now which is why I can not see at all. They were severe. I bought glasses until the operation BUT, also did research into new car headlights. I have a 2001 Jeep Cherokee and had already tried the lens cleaner on the outside which made them look slightly clearer but did not help with the lights and not being able to see the road. When I pull out of my driveway at 6:00am in the pitch dark I always wonder who is going to be walking with dark clothes on this morning and will I see them in time. I have warned my 2 children that drive about people walking that can not be seen. Its scary to me. ANYWAY, the glasses helped BUT - I just had these lights installed yesterday 2/5/14. ( would have done it myself but could not get the semi rusted screws out). A man at work did it in under 10 min:) Yes, I paid him 20 bucks, everyone was happy. I was skeptical about any difference new lights would make. I pulled out of my driveway this morning and was STUNNED!!!!!. I have been sitting here at work for 1 1/2 hours now and can not stop thinking about it. The road was " lit up like a Christmas tree" as I put it:). I could see for what seemed like 2 blocks down the street, not only directly in front of me but to the right and left. The lights lit up neighbors lawns to my right for 15 feet and the lane to my left was the same. I thought, this is what everybody else has been seeing all along. Maybe the lights are blinding other drivers I thought since it seems so bright on both sides. Guess what, I don't mean to be uncaring but I DON'T CARE!! I can SEE THE FREAKING ROAD NOW! I kept waiting for oncoming drivers to flash their lights at me because they thought I had my brights on but it did not happen. The bottom line is- these lights are wonderful and I only wished I had bought them sooner. I am the type that does not spend money on "car stuff". When something breaks I ( borrow money:) and get it fixed and that is about it. If you feel like your lights are not quite right and seem dimmer than others and feel you are a little skeptical about venturing out at night, buy them! You too will be stunned and happy you did. I cant wait until it rains now. I had to have my daughter drive me to work for the last several months when it rained as I could not see lines on road, nothing. Great Amazon price - these were $10.00 higher at my local auto store. Sorry for the long review.

Nice upgrade from original
These were plug and play and that's what i wanted. These lights are brighter and that's also what I wanted. They fit perfectly with no problems at all. Now we'll see how long they last. I am not connected to this company or Amazon. I wrote this because I'm a car guy that likes getting what i paid for.

Band-aid fix for an XJ Cherokee 97-01
I'm writing this review only because of how many people with Cherokees seem to be buying these. I'm replacing another set of these lights again. I'm not sure when I bought the last pair, but we only use this Jeep in the winter, and they were either replaced last fall(2012) or the fall before that(2011). The low beams both burned out on the same day within a matter of minutes of use, so build quality must be consistant. I didn't have time to research different bulbs so I bought another pair. I do not like the short life span of these lights, but I do like the light they put out. It is very white and a very wide beam. Like most XJ Cherokees on the road, ours had the dim brownish light coming from the standard halogen bulbs. I found the real reason behind this is not the bulb, but rather the fact that the wiring of the Jeep was only supplying less than 11 volts to the bulbs. I see many Jeep Cherokees in northern Michigan, and most look to be suffering from this condition. This could explain some people getting many years out of their bulbs. I soldered up a wiring harness that only uses the factory headlight socket to power a pair of heavy duty relays that give actual battery voltage. I was planning on getting some offroad style lights that required up to 250 watts. The harness gets its fused power right next to the battery at the power distribution panel. My headlights now get the required 13.5-14.0 volts while the vehicle is running. This added voltage made even the stock halogens look like silverstars being supplied with 11 volts. Because I had the silverstars I put them in. Silverstars with a true 13.5+ volts going to them are BRIGHT. There was no need to go with the illegal wattages that I was planning on buying. I have adjusted the headlights with an old Hoppy branded professional headlight adjustment kit to make sure I don't blind others out on the road.
