Works great, but you still need to purchase salt in addition to this product.
I admit, I did purchase this thinking it somehow assisted with melting ice, so that was completely my mistake and won't knock the product for it, as I did not completely read the product description. However, this has come in very handy this winter for using it the way it is intended, which is for traction ONLY. This combined with salt has helped keep myself, and my grandparents from slipping on their ramp, and walkways. Together, this works as it should, and definitely creates a non-slip surface that is far safer to walk on, than just with salt alone. The salt helps to melt the ice, and this helps to keep the area slip-free.I probably use more than is necessary, but I don't want to take any chances. The great thing about this product, is it stays around far longer than the salt. So, it is good for many uses, where salt melts, and needs to be reapplied every time. This is obviously far more effective on top of the snow and ice, so it can be swept up, and reapplied again with zero waste, as it also feeds the soil.It is a lot finer than I expected it to be, so it does create quite a bit of dust. Keep that in mind if it's a windy day, to not breathe it in directly. I did purchase this also in the 20lb bag at the same time I purchased this, because I wanted to be sure I had enough. I still have most of the 20lb bag, and have only refilled this container once so far this winter. It has not been as eventful of a winter as they thought it would be here in Ohio, so it seems I will have some for next year, which is fine with me, because this is quite pricey! I use all natural materials that are safe for the environment whenever possible, and I think using a product like this is far better than something that is not safe to use for anyone or any living thing. At least this helps feed the soil, and does not harm animals.I do wish the shaker jug had smaller areas to pour from, as it does come out in larger quantities than is necessary. That has definitely been a factor in my using more than I needed to, but again, I guess it's better to be safe than sorry. I just wish I had more control over how much I put on.I have used this on the sidewalks and the new wood ramp my uncle built last spring, and there has been absolutely no staining of the wood at all. It washes away with the rain, and no green color or anything is left behind. I did have some concern about that, but we have not experienced any negative effects whatsoever.*I purchased this at full price, and have found it to be very effective, and would most certainly purchase it again.

Ice Traction Granules
Found this product a number of years ago but mixed with salt. Have been looking for it ever since, and am happy to have found it! Salt melts the ice, but this adds traction! And when the salt "goes away" these granules stay. They're about the size of kitty litter but do NOT break down when walked on. Recently we had between 1/4" - 1/2" ice under several inches of snow and this made it safe to walk on the concrete around my home. There is one CAUTION though -- and there are ways to get around this -- it can make a mess if it gets tracked into the house! Hard on vinyl and wood flooring and gets buried in carpeting. I simply got some thicker throw rugs to keep at doors and it's worked well for me! The granules come off shoes/boots in those rugs, and get shaken out outside as needed. Just thought that info should be passed on.

Perfect, ordered again!
Experimented in rear yard, never shoveled just placed on wood of stairs over the snow, and a path to bird feeder, and a larger path for the roofers and siding crew, well the outlook, the snow stayed under the green stuff in the shade, and graduallnote snow situated in the sun would dissolve, no it does not really melt but Definately makes a path which prevented all of us from slipping, did what it was suppose to do, thinking just might work on a rural country drive in the future, drive right over the snow, and no slipping of our boots when we get out of the vehicle mmmm! Definately will keep some around now as spring has come, and the mud holes n rear yard out in the garden as crew returns to work on the old 92 year old place gees, so long ago, excellent well satisfied, (note it will come in the house on your boots, thats true however the carpet runners placed easily took care of the problem, no stains, no eating into a product-PERFECT high recommend if you don't wish to fall, like no gutters produced a lotta water this fall and winter which produced water and much ice particlarrly noted in the walking area-a little sprinkle and no slipping, the sun slowly melts the snow, this is a Great Product if you have sun to watch the snow melt, and if not you will not slip Trust me, I have a wildlife habitat which I usually visit daily especially in the cold winter months-and now as the snow is nearly gone, yet ice remains some of the worst seen in decades, this stuff sits n top, did not need to replace yet and again no slipping YES! dID what is was suppose to do!

does the job
I carried small bags of this when I went out on really icy walks this winter. In Brooklyn, NY some people didn't clean their sidewalks around my house. Even just a small amount of this stuff made it safe to walk. I also kept a small bag of it in the car and used it on the walk from my car to the doctor's office. It is fairly light weight. It doesn't dissolve, though so I didn't use it by my front steps, didn't want to track it in the house. I used it at my rear door because ice melted there and froze and I feed several stray cats out there. No bother to them. Great stuff. I originally got it in 5 lb. bags with an easy to carry handle. I'm going to put this into those bags. Absolutely love it and it's no problem on plants either.

LITTER BOX ODOR RESCUE!!!!
After much research on litter box odor I came across using the crushed volcanic material used in this product to eliminate the annoying problem. Just a light sprinkle to cover the top of litter absorbs almost ALL odors & ammonia making THIS my go to solution. Plus it blends in with, and serves as extra litter so nicely that kitty is happy, too!!!!
