More Splatter and... More Story
So, the second volume continues on its splatter-tastic quest, but it does so while finding a more solid footing in the characters. The first volume of Magical Girl Apocalypse killed characters off left and right, but this volume slows down the slaughter a bit, allowing a kind of core cast to form. We don't get in-depth character development, but we do begin to see the core group of survivors a little more clearly, and I have to say, being invested in these kids makes everything else that much more intense. The art continues to be over the top and cartoony. The blood and gore fly fast and furious, and it is all presented in graphic, gut busting detail. This book is not, and never will be, for the weak of heart or stomach. That over the top and cartoony nature carries over in the character designs as well, as each character has a very distinct and unique look. There are still issues with the art, the biggest being... breasts. Anyone who has read the first volume knows exactly the issue I am talking about, and it carries over into the second book. The story itself actually builds nicely in this volume, as the characters are given time to figure out exactly what is going on, and start to formulate a plan as to how they will make life work in a world of blood thirsty magical girls. I will give one warning, though. The ending... I still don't know exactly what it means. It reveals more about the greater world these characters live in, but at the same time it leaves the reader with SO many more questions. Namely, is anyone left alive. Cuz... I have no clue.Magical Girl Apocalypse is a gross, gooey, violent, nasty, weird, fun series that aims to shock in a way that only the Japanese seem to know how. If that sounds like something you would enjoy, then grab volume 1, and dig in. If you've already read volume 1, then get this book, and see the screwed up world of Magical Girl Apocalypse develop even further.

Great second volume
Great second volume, bit of nudity but nothing major so there's that. Book itself came very well packaged, story was well translated (noticed 1 typo but was barely anything) and it was well drawn.
