Make sure you have a front panel opening to put this in
Do I like these? I have purchased 15 over the last 4 years and none have had a failure. Make sure you also purchase a 3-1/2" to 5-1/4" adapter if you don't have an open "floppy drive" slot to put this in. The cord length is excellent and has reached USB headers on every motherboard I have installed them on. Don't have a USB3 header on your board? Then get a short little adapter that converts the USB3 plug on this device to a USB2 plug for your board. The USB slots on this device work just as well with USB2.

Pretty good product at a good price to update using an old case.
I put new components in a old case that pre-dated USB 3, so I bought this to be the front panel. Works fine and the mechanics of the pugs seem good. I would recommend this as having the most bang for the buck if you just want two USB 3 ports.

Working great so far, no power adapter needed
I appreciate that this device, with only 2 ports, does not need any extra rails from the power supply. I have purchased two of these now, one which plugs directly into a Z87 board, and one which plugs into an Inateck USB 3 PCI-Express adapter, and both work perfectly so far. USB 3 speeds, and nothing shorting out or lighting on fire. I even spray-painted one of them silver to match the computer case.I haven't plugged/unplugged many times, but the fit between a USB plug and the jack on this device is nice and firm, but not too tight.

Perfect for older tower cases
I have an older, well constructed and very versatile tower case made by CoolerMaster that I re-used for my upgraded computer. Being built before USB 3, it only had built-in USB 2 ports. This hub fits perfectly in the case and together with a USB 3 pci-e adapter provides the front side USB 3 ports I wanted.

Needed this for our Server
The item was able to be inserted into the 3.5" Bay no problem. The Internal USB 3.0 connector connected to the motherboards connector with no issues. The uniut was tested with a USB 3.0 SSD and it was running quite fast.Recommend this item to be used on either a Server Case or even a PC Computer Case with a 3.5" Bay.

ONLY FITS 3.5 IN, BAY
Be aware this unit is 3.5 in. wide and will only fit in a standard Hard Disk Drive bay of your case. If you want to mount it below your DVD you have to purchase the companion StarTech.com 3.5" to 5.25" Front Bay Adapter - Mount 3.5" HDD in 5.25" Bay - Hard Drive Mounting Bracket w/ Mounting Screws (BRACKETFDBK) for an additional $5.52. If I were to do this again I would purchase the UCEC 5.25 Inch Front Panel USB Hub with 2-Port USB 3.0 & 2-Port USB 2.0 & HD Audio Output Port & Microphone Input Port for Desktop [ 20 Pin Connector & 2ft Adapter Cable] for about the same cost of this 2 port 3.5 in.unit plus the 5.25 adapter.

overrated
nice price for this item compared to other manufactures but i've ordered 2 from entirely different entities and they both have arrived with the little plastic tangs that hold the front bezel on broken. nothing super glue won't fix but i shouldn't have to do that and thus only 4 stars probably deserves 3...
