A handy, basically "pure" mix
I find these muffins to be delicious, considering there's no added sugar. They may not be sweet enough for those who are used to mixes with sugar. I sweeten with monk fruit and a couple of tablespoons of fruit-only jam. I add frozen blueberries, cinnamon, and nuts. It's a great product for hard-core health nuts like myself who can get a little creative with a basically pretty "pure" mix.

READ OTHER AMAZON REVIEWS BEFORE BAKING!
READ OTHER REVIEWS BEFORE BAKING! If only I had read the many reviews here that include tips to add extra liquid, sweetener, mix-ins, etc, I would have saved wasting the first box. Yes - if you buy something labeled "No Sugar Added", you should expect a product that is *not sweet*. But this stuff *is* dry and and stiff. It has more of a biscuit texture. Adding extra water helps a *bit* but I am looking forward to trying it with either maple syrup, agave, applesauce, or mashed banana as others here have mentioned. Overall, it has a palatable flavor that will work well as a base for experimenting with. If you are new to GF products and/or GF baking, please realize there are many options available to you. Some GF products are not *healthy*. This one *is* and it tastes like it. I am looking forward to trying the many variations other reviewers here have shared. And the price for 6 here on Subscribe and Save is a real deal. UPDATE: I have continued experimenting with this mix and continue to be pleased with how versatile it is. If you want to increase the rise, use some acid. I have found that lemon juice or even lemon oil extract works well. I use about 2 TB agave syrup as well for sweetness. The texture of the mix is not as cake-like as some others but because of that, it accepts a variety of mix-ins pretty well. It can accommodate increasing liquid without making it runny. If you do not increase liquid or add acid, the texture is almost more like a drop biscuit. Which leads me to my next experiment...using these to make a savory biscuit/muffin something along the lines of cheddar & onion. I am increasing my rating to 5 stars because for what this product actually is and for all the infinite possibilities for adapting the recipe, it serves really well. Consider this a base mix meant for adding on to rather than a vanilla or white cake muffin mix.

Good for the price
After reading several reviews stating they were not moist enough or sweet enough, I decided to try them anyway since they cost much less than my usual brand. I followed the directions, which do call for your sweetener of choice, but allow you to add none. My husband is diabetic so I used agave as sweetener. Since agave is also a liquid, I expected it to help with the dryness as well. As per my usual baking method, I also added some applesauce in addition to the other liquids called for. With no other additions, I thought the muffins came out very well. They were moist and tasty. After the third day they had dried out a bit, I should have microwaved the one remaining muffin before eating it. My family obviously liked them evidenced by them disappearing quickly. In my next batch, I may add more applesauce or mashed banana, and blueberries or chocolate chips. I recommend these.

Love this company and product
I just recently found Namaste in the past year or so. But every single one of their products I tried has been fantastic. I have bought them over and over and over again. For someone with 21 food allergies, itโs hard to find any product in the baking or bread realm That I can actually buy and eat safely. I had not had a muffin, pancake, or pizza crust in years until I found this brand. Itโs been so nice to have an option. The products are quality. You get a good quantity and they donโt skimp on the amount of product per box. If you follow the directions, everything turns out great. Lots of room for modifications. I canโt have eggs, so I use ground flax and water. Because these are sugar free, you could make a sweet muffin and add your favorite sweetness such as brown sugar, honey, or maple syrup. Or you could go savory, which is fun, with olive oil, garlic, onion, etc. I like to play around with it and try new combos. Itโs a great base. If youโre worried about trying the products by this company, I donโt think you should be. I think they taste great and are easy to use. You should definitely give it a try.

Best GF chocolate cake mix!
We've bought this cake mix for many, many years and this is our favorite. Recently the store we go to stopped selling, and I called Whole Foods and another local health food store, but nobody carried this cake mix. So I had to order online. It came with several boxes with great price. This cake is really the best Gluten Free Chocolate Cake Mix. It's not horribly sweet like others, just perfect, and the flavor is amazing. We get our own whipping cream and make whipped cream to put it on top of this cake, and put strawberries over it. Every birthday we have for me, my husband, my son, my parents, we bake this, and people who come over always ask for "the recipe." Then I sheepishly tell them it's Namaste's cake mix! They cannot believe it's gluten free. Highly recommended!

Does not work with egg replacers-UPDATED with solution
This mix may be good if you are able to cook with eggs, however, we've tried all 3 of our go-to egg replacers that work great in other cake mixes (applesauce, flax egg, Ener-G egg replacer, tried individually and combinations) and none of them worked in this. It cooks up to be very gooey with a strange gummy consistency, almost as though there is way too much tapioca and arrowroot starch compared to the ratio of flour. I've tried cooking it longer (turns out really chewy) and I've tried cooking it in different ovens in case our oven temp was somehow affecting the cake oddly. The results were barely edible... if you really wanted a sugar hit you'd eat it. It was not something most people would even finish to be polite and the time we tried making it with guests, they all politely turned it down just based on its appearance. I realize that it may cook up wonderfully with eggs, so I would not give it a worse review than 3 stars which translates to "it's okay," but it was really disappointing to have several boxes that did not perform well. I've been baking gluten, dairy, and egg free for 5 years, so I'm not new to this. This was just one of the biggest flops we've experienced. I was also disappointed that the cake flavoring did not have a very strong or rich chocolate taste. Most of the flavor came from our frosting. **UPDATE: We discovered that by baking this in an individual brownie pan (deep square sections with more space between them than often in muffin pans), this cake turns out delicious! I don't know what the deal is, perhaps they cook more rapidly? I'm so glad we discovered that this works! We've tried it by replacing the egg with 1/4 cup applesauce+ 1/2 tsp. baking powder for 1 egg and one prepared Ener-G egg [replacer] for a second egg --you'll need to double that if making the recipe which calls for 4 eggs. I had to come back and share because it seems so odd to me the same ingredients were an absolute waste in a round cake pan.

Definitely Recommended
I am not allergic to anything, but a friend is and I made the cake&cupcakes for her gender reveal. I have never had success (taste wise) with gluten-free food. Can't stand the taste and it always so darn dry. I can honestly say, these actually tasted good! I used butter instead of oil and they were a huge hit. The only reason the guests knew they were gluten-free was because of her allergy. And I had plenty of extra boxes so I was able to do a dry run before it. Each box does make 2 cakes so that is really nice. And when they say free of most allergens, they mean it. I gave cupcakes to a bunch of people with a wide range of allergies and no one had any problems. A regular buttercream frosting worked awesome with it and the cream cheese frosting was okay too (not a fan of it but the mom to be loved it), but if you don't have allergies to nuts(or if it is not that bad since the Rumchata site says there may be a "slight cross contamination")- look up "Rumchata icing". ๐ You will thank me later. Lol. All of those went super fast! Definitely buying this again!!! 5 Stars

Best gluten free chocolate cake
This is by far the best gluten free chocolate cake mix I've used, and I've tried quite a few. It's very moist .

Love Namaste products and this spice cake is really good!
EDITED: Because I'm gluten intolerant, I have to read labels carefully - I even have to avoid dextrose, dextrine and maltodextrose because these sweeteners are made from malted wheat. Although 'technically' there isn't supposed to be any gluten protein in those sweeteners after manufacturing, I am so sensitive to gluten that these sweeteners have made me as ill as if I had consumed gluten. What I really appreciate about Namaste is their great product line, clean ingredients and value for money. A *big* thank you to Namaste Products! I can now indulge my sweet tooth without fear of getting ill. The chocolate cake in the photo looks SO good - can't wait to try it out...and the spice cake had great flavour!

but still liked the texture and taste
Didn't realize these are totally unsweetened, but still liked the texture and taste. Stayed fresh for several days. I will try one of the alternative recipes on the Namaste website next, as this mix can be used for donuts, hush puppies and pie dough. One of the best gluten free mixes for muffins I've tried. I might add some Splenda to the next batch, or maybe agave or honey.
