Loved it!
This is an excellent book. Incredibly funny. Like the other reviewers said, I found myself actually laughing out loud several times, which is pretty rare for me. Even if you aren't the most religious person in the world, you will still love this book. It isn't really a "preachy" book at all. It just chronicles one (very funny) man's evaluation of his own faith and the balance he struggles to strike between his worldly passion (college football fandom) and his devotion to God. And he doesn't claim to have found that perfect balance at all. Quite the opposite, in fact.Reading the title, I thought it might be like a devotional book where he evaluates bible verses in connection with games he's attended or something like that, but it's really just a narrative of his travels to all 12 SEC campuses in one year, coupled with his own humorous observations about fans, himself, and life. I'd really recommend this book to anyone just looking to have a break from the everyday grind. It's a really easy read; it's fairly cheap; and I guarantee you that you'll be smiling while you read it. Just a fun book.

Every SEC fan needs this book
WOW!! What an awesome book. This book will open your eyes to Saturdays in "The South" if you are not from here. This is a hilarious journey of Chadd Gibbs through a season of football in the Southeastern Conference.Chad Gibbs is funny, witty, and very REAL to the reader. He tells us out loud just what is going on in his heart and in his mind in a way which we can all relate. It's amazing how this book can convey so many (somewhat pathetic) truths about ourselves and our love for football in a way that made me laugh out loud. My mother is sure it (the book) was sent to me from God to teach me to cool down. It was a fantastic book and I look forward to reading it again. This is a MUST READ for every SEC fan. This is a great read for ANY College Football fan and ANY Christian.

What an SEC fan is
If you have ever read Rammer Jammer Yellow Hammer, it's like that but it's without profanity and it's from a Christian perspective. If you haven't read it, then you need to read that to know what I'm talking about.I finished it in a few days, and it gave a lot of perspective to how we tend to worship our teams. It's awesome that someone tackled the issue in a smart and funny way, without being judgmental.

Is it football season yet?
God...good! Football...good! SEC...good! Chad Gibbs...good! The perfect combination for a fabulous book. I was laughing out loud within the first 5 pages, crying by page 20, laughing again the next page, then sobbing by page 23! Thankfully, I was in the privacy of my hotel room for the page 23, but I did find myself trying not to laugh out loud on a crowded plane several times. Chad's witty sense of humor and his knowledge for all things God & Football make for a great read. I have a feeling all SEC schools will have required Freshman classes centered around this book in a few short years! What's next, Chad?

Funny and Insightful, Great Read!
Must read for all college football fans, especially those fans whose loyalties lie within the Southeastern Conference. Funny and insightful. Mr. Gibbs tells personal stories of his own faith, family, and fanaticism while bringing you others stories as well.Love the part about the sweet tea, "We sat down and ordered drinks, then Tricia and I watched eagerly as Jordan took his first sip of authentic southern sweet tea. With one swallow he was both refreshed and prediabetic."This is just the tip of the iceburg, read this book!

As a fan of the SEC...
I've often felt compelled to compare my loyalty to my team to my loyalty to God, but never have I felt the Razorbacks took a higher stance. I can relate to many of the actions of some of the people interviewed but my take on their behavior was totally different than Chad's. As for the music director who went to every game, then came home and led worship service the next morning, I find that commendable. He enjoyed his team but still put God first by being in church and worshiping despite how many hours of sleep he had. I have seen many people who do put sports before God but anyone who is worried about it is already on the right track.Chad did do an excellent job of making the book interesting. He had some great experiences and met some good people. I'm glad that he stepped out of his comfort zone and visited churches of different denominations.

Food for the SEC Football Fan's Soul
Great Book! I received the book last week and couldn't put it down over the weekend. As an avid fan of college football especially the SEC, it gives an interesting perspective on the balance or unbalance between faith and football. Having grown up in that atmosphere, I can appreciate the struggles and certainly understand the effect and passion of this sport.A must read for any SEC fan! Highly recommend it. It will have you laughing out loud as you read some very funny quips---almost felt the spirit of Lewis Grizzard in these pages.

Great book
This is a great book. Very funny and very close to home if you are a Christian and a SEC football fan. Of course I had issues with the author being an Auburn fan but thought he did a great job writing this book. Wish it would have had a little more substance when dealing with the Christian life, but definately understood and identified with the concepts discussed. Definately recommend this book.
