The book is ideal for beginners and advanced users.
If I was not familiar with QNAP servers, the book is useful but can be confusing. It is a great beginning for setting up QNAP Servers. I have 4 QNAP servers and found the book very useful especially when used with the downloadable documents from QNAP. The book made the setup of my 4th unit easier and it is worth the money. It helps if you know the fundamentals of networking.

Excellent step by step guide, especially for newbies
The guide is a very-well organized and carefully written document that should be of great help to beginners in the Qnap universe. It covers all the basic aspects and also provides hand-holding for the Windows, Mac and (partially) the Linux user with small, but insightful remarks. Highly recommended! It might be even more useful, perhaps in a future edition, if the author would also share some of the typical problems one might encounter - - surely he has many of those in his memory. Make no mistake: some of this stuff is not for the faint-hearted. I say this as someone who, because of a minor error in VPN settings, almost tore his hair out during a week of endless and desperate fiddling. It was the extremely prompt and courteous service of a QNAP tech who, within minutes of remote interaction with my QNAP TS-215 NAS, solved the issue and made me realize how easy it is to stumble with even minor mistakes in the various settings.

Nice distillation of important setup concepts
I was struggling with getting my SAN up and running by simply using the available manuals and QNAP community. This guide provided a methodical and easy-to-understand set of instructions and explanations which has me feeling pretty good about where I'm at now. I'm glad I got this before going too far with my installation ... I ended up having to literally restart my process based upon some bad decisions I made when originally setting up my SAN.Side note ... I have been extremely please with the QNAP device.

Great overview of the basic operation of a QNAP NAS
It took me about 2 hours to go through it, reading most of it and skimming part of it.I now have a much better understanding of what the NAS will do, how it's organized and how to configure it. I'm ready to start using it.I need to look elsewhere for advanced topics, like running virtual machines, but that's fine. I now have a good foundation.Nice job!

In Layman’s Terms
This is a well-organized guide highly recommended for novices who are considering or have juts purchased a QNAP NAS. It is written in layman’s terms so you do not need to be an IT specialist to understand it. Great supplement to the QNAP users manual but easier to understand and in some cases more thorough.

A Good How To Guide
I have had a TS-451 for about four years. I was able to use it but I really did not understand all the QTS software offered until I purchased this book. I highly recommend this book if you have a QNAP product.

A valuable guide for new QNAP owners
I purchased this very affordable guide to help me get acquainted with my new QNAP 453 Pro. There is no user's guide on the box. While one can be downloaded, I liked the coaching provided by this Setup Guide - by a fellow user who has done this before. Now I feel ready to tackle the QNAP guide for reference now that I have the NAS up and running.

Linux?
Like others have said, Linux info would have made it even better.

Welcome clarity
The author has a refreshingly simple and clear style of writing which guides the uninitiated reader through this unfamiliar territory. The book is not aimed at an expert user, rather is it designed to help anyone who has met the equipment and various menus for the first time. It is a friendly guide. I strongly recommend it and I thank the author.

Good as far as it goes.
Pretty good as far as it goes, but it is an initial setup guide, so if you want to dig into the technical detail then this may leave you wanting more.
