Goya, Ham Flavor Concentrate, 1.41 Oz

I’m poor, I get a lot of dried beans that I rehydrate overnight and then I cook the next day and this ham seasoning is the best! Taste natural is salty. It hits every thing on point love it.

I can never find this product at the store. It's perfect for soups! And it comes in little packets so it's easy to use what you want and store the rest easily.

This flavoring is a good substitute for the REAL ham when you do not have one! lol It flavors and mixes very well. The value per box is fair. The HAM flavor is difficult to find where I live; therefore, I was very elated to see that Amazon Fresh stocks it. I love to season soups and green (string) beans and other lentils, bean dishes with this brand HAM FLAVORING. Goya makes many flavorings, but their HAM flavoring is my favorite go-to after chicken & beef! I have also tried their tomato flavoring. ALL OF THE GOYA LINE OF SEASONINGS ARE GOOD. If you use them sparsely you can manage the salt/sodium content. Perhaps, Goya will offer a BACON flavor someday! ;-D *TIP: Try a light sprinkling of HAM flavoring in your mashed potatoes for a unique flavor! :-D

Why can't I find this in stores? I have used this forever but thought I had used my last cube until I found this at Amazon. Pour a can of black eyed peas into a one quart saucepan. Throw in one of these ham concentrate cubes along with a teaspoon of minced onion. Heat over medium heat for about ten minutes and you have a killer pot of black eyed peas for two people in only fifteen minutes, start to finish. You yankees don't know what you're missing! -- Update -- I have been using this product for years and they were cubes. Hence my review. The last box I got from Amazon was packets of powder. I used them as I had always used the cubes and they worked even better. Dissolved much quicker and tasted just as good. Also updating my recipe: add a teaspoon of minced onion. Again, yankees should try it. YUM!

I have a big bowl of soup beans for lunch almost every day. Typically, I use two cups of dried beans (usually pinto or small white Navy beans), a chopped onion, and a smoked ham hock or neck bone, or else a smoked turkey wing or neck (sometimes also adding chopped celery and/or carrots). Yesterday I followed my usual recipe, but substituting one packet of Goya Ham Flavor Concentrate. I was very pleasantly surprised by the results -- as flavorful as with ham and more flavorful than with smoked turkey. This is a terrific product.

We use this stuff for flavoring seitan and Butler Soy curls, it would also work for soaking TVP or adding to piella. It does taste like ham! I think the trick is to not over-do it, otherwise it begins to taste fake. But in the right amounts, in concert with other seasonings it really does the job well.

Excellent for enhancing the flavour of pea & ham soup.
