Dorman 926-450 Driver Side Windshield A-Pillar Molding Compatible with Select Ford Models

The trim on my driver side front window flew off while driving home. I looked on-line to see how hard it would be to do this myself. It looked fairly simple so I started searching for product options. There are various 3rd party options for this particular part. Every manufacture has different adhesive options. Some products expect you to buy the tabs separately and some expect you to apply a liquid adhesive. I went with the Amazon recommended option which was this one. This product had every thing needed the tabs were pre-installed and they had a double adhesive tape for applying the trim versus using some glue. The whole install was fairly easy to install and took me just 15 min. I did spend 30 min researching online videos since Dorman has no instructions for installation. Most places that carry these DIY products have video resources Dorman has none. My online search gave me three good tips. The first tip there is a tab at the very top of the window trim that is in the car itself and not part of the window trim kit. If you don't remove it first then you will never be able to install the trim. I had to pry it out with a screwdriver and break the clip to get it out. The other tip is to start the install at the bottom of the window and work your way up first . The bottom needs to be in the right place for all the screw holes to line up for the install kit same goes for the trim molding that snaps on top of the install kit start at the bottom. I was also warned to not over tighten the screws that attach the install kit for fear of snapping the plastic. The Dorman plastic was very sturdy I think you would have to crank down really hard for this to happen.Those are my tips I would recommend using this product and think anyone that can use a nut driver or socket set can easily do this install themselves. Now only time will tell on how good this products really is and if it everything stays secure.

Beware that the quality of this product is not the best, and you may end up wasting time and money if you get this professionally installed.I changed the passenger and driver side and went through five packages (four with Amazon and one with eBay) until I got two that worked (not perfectly, but hey, you are saving money by not buying the OEM). You first need to glue the top plastic piece because the manufacturer barely uses any glue, see the photo. You can use the J-B Weld 50139 Plastic Bonder Body Panel Adhesive and Gap Filler Syringe to glue it.The person installing it, tried and tried, but he could not get a good alignment between the top and bottom pieces. The plastic that runs across the windshield could not be aligned with the top piece. The gap that is left creates a whistling sound in the cabin when driving at freeway speeds. See the video.I returned the first two (passenger and driver side to Amazon) and got two new ones. The new ones were better regarding the alignment, but one broke two days after installing it and flew away while driving (thankfully, no one was hurt) to get it removed to send it back to Amazon.I returned it to Amazon, but Amazon refused to send a new replacement. I bought the identical product from eBay, and the difference is that eBay sent the product in a larger box covered in bubble wrap. Amazon sent the packages in the original product box, and all the packages I received were heavily beaten (probably at the warehouse).Amazon is now saying that I did not return the product completely (the top piece flew off on the freeway), and it's refusing to give my money back. If you need to return this because any part is broken and it's already installed, be sure to get it off yourself quuckly because Amazon wants to receive all the plastic garbage.Amazon says that the customer is first, but I have been dealing with two issues with them during this month, and they act like any other big corporation, be careful.If you decide to install this product, I suggest ordering it on eBay (seller Carid) because the package will be protected when sent to you.

Fit perfect on my 19 explorer. The OEM part looks identical , fit and finish was great.

First one arrived damaged snapped in half. Replacement arrived intact and installation was quick and easy. Used some Permatex Black Silicone Adhesive during install to give extra adhesion to the cheap plastic clips. Time will tell how it holds up. Fit was pretty good but not perfect although not really noticable unless you get up close at the roof line. Considering this was a fraction of the cost of OEM, can't complain on fit.

The media could not be loaded. Package was tore up, but other than that, The product came in looking great no cracks. Nothing brand new easy to install took like 10 minutes. Really good Quality would buy again if passenger side was broken.

This was extremely easy to install except for one issue we ran into. When the original piece broke off it left a plastic tab in one of the wholes where the tab from the replacement needed to snap into. It took quite a bit of effort to get that sucker out! But once it was out it all went together beautifully.Just a note, we needed to install new pieced for both the underside piece that houses the weather stripping as well as the smooth top piece that snaps in on top.

Installed on my vehicle in less than 15 minutes. They are fragile and can easily crack during installation. Please read installation instructions. Videos are available on YouTube. All parts for installation are included. Other brands may not include all needed components. Satisfied with this purchase.
