I'm a fan of the Midea brand, even if I don't know how to pronounce it.
I'm impressed with this little thing. I have it cooling a room well over its recommended size and it does it well. The eco mode does a great job of minimizing power use and actually keeping the room cool. The fan is noticeable on high when it first comes on but blends into the background well enough. I installed it by myself, wouldn't recommend doing it solo, but hot weather drives determination. It's been nearly 4 years since I purchased it. I figure if I jinx it now by leaving a good review and it croaks tomorrow, I'll buy another one just like it and not feel too bad about it. I leave it in the window all year long. I've done nothing except unplug it during the winter and clean the filter. I noticed it doesn't drain well, even when tilted quite far back. I'd drill a hole in the bottom to help with the draining but it's pretty high up and I'll need to borrow a ladder to reach it.

8000 BTUS, pretty quiet as window AC goes, not silent, low power draw.
less than 650 watts for 8000 BTUs, Not ice cold air, but as the room cools this gets cooler. We have a room that does not cool enough with central air between ducting issues and heat produced in the room. This thing cools the room nicely in just a few minutes, then shuts off. We are running it in ECO mode now and it still only takes a few minutes to make the room cozy despite a 3d printers and other geek toys heating it up.

Good,QUIET COOLS GREAT
The four stars is because her customer service is horrible. The little air conditioner works real good. I’m very happy with it. It’s quiet but when they sent me no good. Remotes for the two that I bought and I tried to call them. They were rude and not helpful at all and expected me to spend $30 for one remote, but the air conditioner is good and I bought warranties which I would suggest to anybody because then AMAZON pays you back not the CUSTOMER SERVICE from Madea I wouldn’t trust them as far as I could throw them.

So far its perfect!
So let me begin by saying I live in the deep south and my central unit is older. I noticed last year it wasnt cooling as well. I had already got smaller unit for my bedroom and this year to help supplement my central unit I decided to purchase this for my livingroom. It was super easy to install, as I did that myself. It has 3 fan levels and you can adjust the thermostat and it has an economy mode and a sleep mode which I really love! Midea is a good quality AC. The cord long enough and its quiet. I was worried about the noise over my TV. As this is the 1st day, I will update as the summer goes. I would suggest getting more foam for around the unit. It doesnt really have enough for my liking!

Bad thermostat
This item works...but it doesn't get as cold as I'd like it to and it doesn't dehumidify very well. The controls are very confusing, and I still haven't figured out how to turn on just the dehumidifier or just the fan, or even change the fan speed (nothing happens when I press the fan speed button...it only stays on auto). The thermostat doesn't read temperature correctly so it stops running before it should. I have to set it to 64 to get it to 68 in the room, and it only gets down to 66 or 64 in the room if it's cold enough outside, when an AC isn't typically needed. I'm worried how this will hold up in the summer, because it doesn't perform well in the mid-70s weather we've been having.Back to the thermostat, it doesn't run if I turn it on 65. I HAVE to set it to 64 to do anything, but even then it turns off quickly. In order to get it to keep running, I have to set it to 63 AND turn off the eco mode. This is how I can get it to go to the colder temperatures, but then it runs the entire time and doesn't stop. So the thermostat just isn't a thing I guess. If it weren't such a hassle I'd return this product, but I'll wait and see how it performs in the Texas heat. I have the warranties ready to go just in case it craps out on me, which I suspect it might. All in all, not worth the money. I'd prefer to buy a cheaper one that does the same exact thing when I just turn it on hi/lo.Edit: after having this item for 2 months, it simply doesnt work when it gets warm outside. It got to 90 degrees today and it could only cool it to 70 degrees, even when set to 64. To be honest, tho, i think it was 70 bc of my central air, not this unit. (I use it to cool off one room but main ac staus on for the house)

Little AC that does its job
We've got one room on the south side of our house in central Texas that the central AC struggles to keep cool in the hottest summer months. Once upon a time the room was actually detached from the house, but we did some remodeling and joined it to the main structure. But though there is a vent in, it counts on air flowing out the open door for the return. Now, with a kid and her dog in the room and the door closed at night, the air does not move well, and it can get hot in the summer. For a few thousand dollars I could probably have someone come in and improve the airflow, but not doing that until COVID is no longer an issue, so we bought this little guy.In short, it is light enough for two people to easily install in a window (and take out and store for the winter months). It works very well at cooling one big room even on days when it is over 100 outside, even when it is over 100 for weeks on end. It does make some noise, but not terrible. Features are fine...thermostat works, turning it off and on as appropriate. It certainly won't cool an entire house, but it does a great job on a big room in extreme heat. It might cool a bit more in more moderate temperatures.

This works so much better than a 6000 btu
It was very easy to install the accordion sides and top rail. I installed it in the window and it fit perfectly. With no gaps anywhere. Turned it on and waited about 20 minutes and the room was already comfortable. I don't think it has extra noise like others have said. It's a normal air conditioner. And a very good one at that.
