They run smaller than they used to and no Kevlar Labeling - still love them - long time repeat buyer
UPDATE: Follow-up to my last review: I bought the XL and the wrists and palms fit like the Large size used to... but the fingers were too long - returning them. Why did they change their manufacturer!!! The Large runs small now and is just too tight. Darn, this was my go-to glove for 10 years - no more. Have to find another brand. I love these gloves. I have purchased four pairs for my wife and I over the last 15 years. When they show wear, I buy a new set. Extremely high quality, great materials, and they still maintain good dexterity. Well, I just ordered a new pair and I'd note that they are a bit tighter than before. I take a Large and have always ordered a Large with no issues. These are fine for my wife, so I'll give them to her. I am going to order an XL for me and see how it goes. If there's an issue, I'll update this review. On another note, there is usually labeling on the product wrist and backhand stating Dupont Kevlar. These no longer have that. The wrist has no label and the backhand has "cut resistant" only... although the product description still says 9% Kevlar; so I guess it's OK. I am writing mostly to advise long time buyers, like myself, that they are running a little smaller. I could've worn them and made due, the difference was that minimal, but they honestly were tight in the the wrist, palm and fingers, so I decided to increase the size. Hope this helps you.

They are great but order only what is in stock
I initially ordered a pair of medium size gloves. Amazon said that it would be able to ship within 2 to 4 weeks. At nearly 5 weeks later I canceled the order after having no communication on my order. Who knows, maybe I would still be waiting today. That's really unacceptable and really the first negative experience I've had on an item not directly in stock. So if you want to buy these gloves only buy whatever size is in stock. However, I then ordered a pair of the large size and got it less than a week later. It fits just a slight bit bigger than what I wanted but I think it will work fine for me. Now I've bought general purpose work gloves almost every year from Lowe's. Normally the basic ones with the leather fingers. The reason I buy them every year is because they seem to wear out every year, usually a hole develops in one of the fingers. These gloves I won't be replacing any time soon. Their made of fantastic quality, sturdy yet comfortable, and well balanced between general yard work, cutting and stacking wood, to even working around the garage. If anything I will probably pick up a waterproof pair for work during winter. I'm very pleased with the quality and it's well worth the investment. Protect your hands. UPDATE: I've been using these gloves for a couple of months. They fit a little better now that I've had them a while. Overall they are fantastic! Keep my hands well protected from sharp barbs, prickly branches, and other yard waste. They aren't totally invincible, I did get one poke through the kevlar topside from a particularly nasty thorn, but otherwise they've prevented the normal cuts, scrapes, and abrasions I get every spring. Feels like a set of armor for your hands. I've also used them for pulling up carpet. Great sense of touch and the form fit is tremendous. Best set of general utility gloves I've ever bought. My go to gloves for any yard work or remodeling I need to do. I plan on buying another set if these should ever wear out, which I doubt will happen anytime soon.

Great glove for general yardwork.
So I have another pair of older youngstown gloves, and they've been great. This new pair has held up well to several weekends of land clearing. Pros: Kevlar lining gives you a small advantage when playing with bladed objects. Palm material wears very well in abrasive use. Velcro tab is easily operated while wearing gloves. Terry cloth material thumb is great for wiping sweat. Foam "padding" stays reasonably warm when soaking wet in 5 degree weather. Cons: Kevlar lining really won't stop BIG slicy things. The rating is midrange. Glove stretches MUCH less than their non-kevlar models. Grey back of the glove is not very abrasion resistant. Velcro tab is stiff and won't stick at lower temps. No wrist coverage, at least on me. I would give them 5 stars, but the backs of mine look like hell already. They're still functional, and look like they've got a lot more to go, but they certainly aren't very abrasion resistant on the top.

Awesome gloves for a variety of jobs
I bought these gloves because I needed to do some work on land I just bought. I'm currently clearing trees and bushes (nasty, thorny bushes) and stringing a mile of barbed wire fence (times 4 strands). For this reason, I chose the Kevlar reinforcement these gloves offer. They've performed brilliantly. Plus, the sizing was right on (I'm 6'2" and ordered the large), and they are comfortable. The only way these could be any better is if they offered an 'elbow-length' pair. That would be awesome. I was hesitant to purchase due to other reviewer comments that indicated the gloves might not last very long in harsh conditions. So far so good with my first pair, and I've already bought a second pair for when the day finally does come that the first give out. I don't expect gloves to last a lifetime, especially doing the type of work I am now, but these have held up nicely. I can even operate the chainsaw with them on, clearing the debris afterwards. I've yet to be poked by either the thorny bushes or the 4-point barbed wire. A contractor I hired to help with the task was skeptical that these would perform as well as his all-leather gloves, but he's now a believer (and perhaps even a bit envious!). After three weeks of daily use, the only wear I can see is near the right index-and-middle fingertips area where some of the material is beginning to separate from the glove. I think the stitching may have finally worn out at this point, or perhaps I snagged it on a metal barb while rolling out the barbed wire - not sure. Regardless, these gloves are well designed with several layers of protection until you reach bare skin, so they still have a lot of use ahead of them. They even protected me against what would have been a bad burn, when I accidentally touched a very hot part of the saw with my thumb. Though the heat immediately burned/melted a small hole in the thumb area of the glove, it didn't reach my skin and I was very thankful. I highly recommend these gloves for outdoor work. If you are not stringing barbed wire and cutting down trees, imagine how long they'll last you! UPDATE: Editing my review to add a star. I've not had a reason to look for another brand of glove in over 6 years. These are fantastic. Stop reading and just click the Buy button!

These are great. Super thick and durable, but not too heavy. Felt secure for cutting with chainsaw

Great gloves for tree trimming & cutting
My wife and I both like these gloves for tree cutting. I purchased them specifically to use with chainsaws and we have been using them daily for 4 weeks now. They resist the sharp branches and pine needles better than other gloves Iโve used. I also can handle the chainsaw chain while sharpening them and they have held up well. They also hold up well to the chain bar oil and grease. They are a bit hot to wear because of the cut protection but they havenโt become uncomfortable even with all day wear. Thankfully they are washable and we have washed our pairs twice now in the washing machine then just hung them to dry. They donโt shrink or stiffen like some gloves do when being washed. For our use the dexterity has been fine. Most of the tools we use are fairly large handled although the chain sharpening tools are smaller. The one disadvantage I have noticed is in handling steel wire rope (winch cable): the material in the palms slides on the wire so itโs harder to pull the winch line with much force but I wrap the cable behind my body and then can unspool it from the winch. Overall we are really satisfied with these gloves and weโll buy them again when needed.

The best pair of work gloves Iโve used!
Iโve been wearing these gloves for about a month at work. I use them for a lot of photography grip work and basic carpentry work. Iโm very hard on gloves and these are holding up much better after the first month than most others I have tried. There is some very minor fraying in a couple spots but Iโm not concerned about that yet. If it becomes an issue Iโll update this review, but considering the wear and tear I put on gloves, this is not shocking to see. I work with very hot photography lighting on a daily basis and although I didnโt purchase these for the purpose of protecting my hands from the heat, they have proven to be quite effective at it. So thatโs a bonus. The grip on the palms is also some of the best Iโve experienced. I lift and move heavy, smooth, metal lighting equipment all the time. Most gloves allow this type of equipment to slid through your grip, but these gloves are still holding on tight even after accumulating dust and dirt on them. I am all around very happy with these! Update: 3/2/21 I still love these gloves. My initial review was that they were very sturdy and were holding up the the type of work that I do. But the middle fingers are starting to wear out on the edges. I've added new photos to show the weak points in the fingertips. Despite how quickly I've worn through these gloves, they're still the best gloves I have used for this job and I will be purchasing another pair. It would be great to see some improvements made to these weak points.

Not enough Kevlar for pulling blackberry vines, otherwise great
I purchased these for my husband thinking they'd be great for when he pulls blackberry vines. No such luck, the Kevlar doesn't cover the entire hand, so everywhere there wasn't Kevlar (there's gaps in the fingers and between the palm and fingers), blackberry thorns poked his hands and so did the little spiny weeds in our lawn. However, they're great for his other yard chores. But as soon as I find a pair of gloves that don't let blackberry thorns poke my hubby's hands, these Youngstown gloves likely won't be used anymore. Regarding sizing, I bought the XXL size as my husband is 6'8" with huge hands, and he was happy that these gloves fit him. Not only were the fingers long and big enough for his fingers, but so was the rest of the glove. Oftentimes gloves will stop short of his wrists and just barely cover the backs of his hands, but these come all to the way to his wrists. It's a little detail that matters to a guy who has trouble finding stuff that fits him.

Able to work for hours without continually needing to take off
Enough feeling that you can work the saw and do all associated chores without removing the gloves.
