Hoover Hives 10 Frame Medium Super Box for Honey Bee Hives

We bought this with the main brooder hive for new bees we were getting in the spring. This does take some assembly but it was a fun project with my daughter to assemble. High quality wood with a beeswax finish make it a superior product!

As a bee keeper who normally uses a standard white painted hive I thought I would try the Hoover brand of Langstrouth style hive. I like the waxed outer coating, ease of assembly and quality of materials.

Easy to assemble. Quality cuts and wood. Heavily waxed for long life. Just the best hive producer. If you want top of the line, this is the product to buy. I have tried several other vendor products. The plain wood boxes are usually warped, broken corners or in need of friendly persuasion during assembly, and then you need to paint the exterior and finish the inside wood with a bee safe product like Eco wood preservative. A lot more work to save a few dollars. Hoover boxes are just assemble and ready to use. The best!

You can't beat the price and for that alone it's worth it. I've purchased two of them so far and both of them had cracks on one of the long side pieces but were still useable. I like the dovetail joints which make for a solid box. The frames and foundation were all in good condition. The only way you'll do better is to make it yourself which I plan to do over the winter.

The quality is excellent. Sure there are some knots, but the bees don't care about that! (Personally I think they add to the beauty.) Each piece was perfectly cut for a nice snug fit that was super easy to assemble (I've had issues with unassembled woodenware being a little "wonky" before) and the frames felt sturdier than unassembled frames I've bought before.However, the difference between a good company and a great company is how they treat their customer when there is an issue. There was a little mix-up with my order, causing some parts to not be in the box. When I contacted them about the issue, they responded to me within a day, and very soon after I had the missing parts.Great quality. Great price. Great customer service. I will definitely be a repeat customer.

The best looking hive out there! I feel better giving my bees the natural looking wood with their own preferred beeswax as a natural wood preservative rather than unnatural paint. The wax features the wood grain as well as stain and polyurethane. I have already ordered more from these guys.Just a note, you have to realize this is wood dipped in melted wax so expect to see wax drips and be prepared to scrape off a little at the joints if needed to make perfect fit. The cuts are already perfect. The different thicknesses of the wax may need smoothing out. However, I’d not have it any other way. You can reuse what you scrape off but this allows you to know you are getting just two ingredients: wood and beeswax!

Significantly better quality than other hive components I've seen. Super taps are angled making for a better fit and an absolutely square box. It is, however, somewhat harder to assemble. Heavy wax coating should provide superior protection, but it can't be painted. I'd also like to see a choice of foundation material. I prefer beeswax foundation as it is accepted more readily. But again this plastic foundation seems to have a generous wax coating which may do the trick. Too soon to tell. Wood quality is also excellent.
