My daughter and I love this hat! We kayak and this is perfect. If windy, we can use the strap. Otherwise, we put the strap above the hat, as the picture shows. Only one thing I would suggest, is to make another ponytail hole, higher up than the original one. We like to wear our ponytails higher up on our head. We have to pull ours down to fit properly for us. But it’s not a deal breaker...still love and use the hat! It’s also not hot while wearing. Very comfortable in excessive heat!

I ended up returning this hat. I have a large head and while this hat fit, it was a bit more snug than I was comfortable with. But, even without it being slightly too snug I would have returned based on esthetics. I found the proportions of the brim a bit odd, I think it would have looked better if the brim was a bit larger. It wears like a fishing hat versus a beach or pool hat. Also, even though I ordered the least egregious color combo in my opinion (the blue grey one) it would have been better if it were offered in more neutral and solid colors like a black, navy, khaki, or dark grey.

I had been wearing a similar hat I purchased at Walmart last year (men's section), but the brim is not as straight (more wavy) and it blows off of my head easily.This hat is about the same footprint but looks cuter and has a slight elastic band that is not too tight on my average to large head but fits snugly so I don't have to grab it when there is a breeze. The brim is flat all around which offers me better sun protection. I don't know how it will withstand washing, as I sweat a lot with all of the walking I do in our southern sunny weather, but it is very affordable, so I might buy a few more in anticipation of needing to replace it eventually. There also is some ventilation mesh. I can't tell if it helps since 95 degrees is pretty hot with or without ventilation mesh (there is no freon in it), but the mesh can't hurt.For a ponytail, put the hat on at the level you think you'll wear it. Press on you head with your finger through the ponytail hole and then take the hat off to tie your ponytail in exactly that spot. It's not as flexible as a baseball cap that way, so it's good to find the right pony position before you put the hat on to pull the pony through.

Hat looks just like the picture. The purple is more on the pink side but still purple. Comes folded and it is hard to get the creases out of the hat. You can snap the sides up which helped with the creases. Wish it had wire around the rim. Then you can mold it. I have another floppy hat with wire in the rim, and the rim is easy to straighten out after packing.I love the ponytail hole. I got lots of compliments for the hat with my ponytail hanging out.The hat just fits me and I don't have a big head. So if you have trouble with hats fitting I wouldn't get this one. I think it would fit a older child without being too big. You can adjust it tighter for smaller heads. I wore it as loose as it would go and I've worn children's baseball caps.Although I didn't get to test it out in the rain, I did pour water on it and it seems fairly water-resistant (water beaded up and rolled off.)Bottom line, I got it for my vacation to Hawaii and it worked great. Had no issues. Didn't have to worry about my hair I just pulled it through the hole. Helped keep me cool and face out of the sun.

I really like this hat. I like the look, the color, the fit, the vibe. Bonus, my husband liked the way it looked on me, too. I am hoping the hat is cool to wear and my head does not sweat in it. if I don't sweat, it is likely that I will give it 5 stars.

Very pleased with this hat. We're big on being in the outdoors, and sun protection is a must in Florida. I've taken this on several camping trips, on our hikes, and for bike rides. The hat fits nicely, and the chin strap keeps it in place on windy days. Another great feature are the snaps on the side that allow you to pin up the sides of the hat if you don't want the floppy parts down. Of course the best feature is the pony tail opening. I have pretty long hair, and baseball caps just don't cut it when I need full protection from the sun. This hat does the trick.

This is the perfect hat for jet skiing! It's hard to find a hat that will stay on AND protect ears and face. I saw someone with this hat, at our marina, and asked where they got it.The hat is VERY lightweight, has a stiff but flexible brim that can be worn flat, or snapped up. It has an elasticized inner band that is very comfortable, and, along w/the stampede (chin) strap, keeps the hat securely on, even during fast ski rides. And, there's a ponytail hole!If you like to jetski or boat...or, even for hiking, biking and other outdoor activities, this is the perfect hat.

When it arrived it was folded, as described for easy travel, however even after a year of sitting open on my shelf the creases have not relaxed at all. With all those creases it is not very appealing on, although if you needed a hat to take on a trip and had very little room, this would be ok. It is just not the hat I go to for everyday headwear. The opening in the back is nice for the ponytail, but so is a regular ball cap, the difference here is you have your neck covered and it has a stampede strap to hold it on in windy weather.

A nice hat but,the hat received was folded in half to fit in a small bag, this causes a permanent fold on the two side of the hat brim.Get a bigger bag and do not fold the hat in half.

Absolutely perfect! This will get a lot of use this summer during our kayak and canoe trips. Item arrived very quickly and exactly as described. I love the colour and the ability to wear a ponytail is great.
