The story is amusing and the quality was excellent

Very disappointing; although the story has a cute story line, it is ruined very quickly with reference of smoking a fat cigar and blowing smoke rings. It felt that the author was trying to make the idea of smoking more appealing to kids. Our kids are exposed to negative messages enough in the world, they certainly don’t need more from a children’s book.

Terrible addition to our Julia Donaldson collection- she missed the mark on this one. Didn’t portray a positive message at all!

I love all Julia Donaldson books. They are always our favourites, this one starts no differently to others, it’s a beautiful flowing story, until... the scarecrow lights up ‘a fat cigar’??? What on earth!?In a children’s story? Was this really the intended ending? It’s almost like someone took one of her stories and wrote a joke ending to it. I unfortunately hadn’t pre-read it before reading it to my 2 year old but instantly saw the picture abs shut the book!!!Very disappointing!

The story is a bit different than others but we think it is quite a good approach for kids to understand the meaning of love, loyalty n of course wedding. Julia is just one wonderful writer
