SIDESHOW MONKEY - The art of David Hartman

@David Hartman
I've been following you Deviant Art account for years, and this book really brings a lot that digital work to print very well. I am looking forward to a second volume with more possible pseudo "comic covers" you've done over the years. Hopefully, some of your "Strange Cases" will be in the next volume.As I'm happy with the overall product, I have to ask if next time around you could have a little heavier stock on the cover, and perhaps a different stock of paper. My book is getting a little bent overtime, and feel the book may not last over use. I can understand production cost issues, and if you need help with these things please consider a kickstarter. Also, if possible a kickstarter for something like Strange Cases. "The Devil Reject" comic is great, but I really hope to see a comic run that delves into more horror concepts and themes with your art style.

Wish there was more meat to it
Great book with a lot of amazing artwork....just seems a bit pricey for what you get. Bigger books with more artwork for half the price are out there...

I bought this because Rob Zombie wrote the introduction and because David's a hometown boy. I'm definitely not disappointed with my purchase, but I'm a tattooer and I'm used to perfect renderings. Some of this guys stuff is awesome....some is just sloppy....so I guess the old adage is true....its not what you know, its who you know.

Great takes on classic monsters and ghouls!
If you haven't heard of this cat, you really owe it to yourself to check out his website. He does the strangest takes on classic horror flicks and does it rather well. This guy is awesome. He works for Disney and his client list includes Rob Zombie. Go over to SIDESHOW MONKEY and check it out! I ordered a copy of his 1st print, sold out Art of David Hartman book at his site a few years ago. For $35, he'd do a quick sketch of your choice (back then). After seeing his take on the cult classic, "Prophecy", I knew it had to be the mutated bear creature from the cool movie I remember as a kid. Check out his takes on the "gillman", "Texas Chainsaw" and his comic, "Rite". The guy is going to be HUGE! Now David, get to work on another RITE book ; )

Hot Women and Zombies!!!
What else does anyone really need from a book?I've been a fan of David's short films at channel101.com for a while now and when I discovered his artwork at his own website I was completely blown away by just how talented he is as both a film maker and as an artist. He has experiance in film, animation, visual effects, comics, design, and storytelling and he is able to take aspects from all of these things and weave them together seemlessly. Through his loose, expressive drawing style and dynamic use of color he gives every drawing life, which says alot since more often then not it's corpses he's giving life to. I guess that makes him more than just an animator, he's a re-animator. sorry, living dead joke.The bottom line is: if you love horror movies, carnival freak shows, animation, comics, or just damn good art, this book is for you!!

He made my Favorite book!
You know when you're a kid and you buy a monster book that's got a really cool cover but when you take it home it's really lame on the inside?This is not that book.Dave Hartman's Sideshow Monkey is CHOCKED, I say, CHOCKED full of pictures. Ever square inch is crammed with gorgeous, gorgeous art by a man who really loves to draw. Dave is a master of color and composition. If you are a fan of Bernie Wrightston or old EC Comics or Hot chicks in distress or Mars Attackian-ish type stuff, you need to buy three of these books. You WILL wear out the pages staring at each page for literally HOURS taking in all of the incredible detail.This book is so inspirational, it makes me want to draw again! I'm so jealous of you, Dave.Via La Hartman!
