All Quiet on the Western Front (Paperback) - Common

I had heard of this book, or maybe just heard of the movie made from the book, but had never read it. I came across a list of books everyone should read. All Quiet on the Western Front was on that list. Of course, these lists are just someone's opinion, but I'm glad I ordered this book and read it. It's not a huge book but it is impactful. I had always thought it was about WWII, but no, it is about the Big War, the War to End All Wars, WWI. Surprisingly to me, it is written from the perspective of a German soldier. It is a book that makes you wonder how people can be so nostalgic about war. This is not a book of nostalgia, it is a book of bodies, death, fear and questioning. I am glad I read it. I have recommended it to my family and friends.

ITs a book thats been around for some time. and its one i truly believe should be read by everyone. One of the interesting things about the book is it was written by an individual who had been there and im pretty convinced some of the characters and situations in the books are stand ins for personal experiences. If there's one book a school should have as encouraged read this should be it.

This is just a summarized version of the book aimed at school (elementary) students. If you want the real book, don't buy this.

I ordered this several months ago and had to wait for it to be printed. I must not have read the description well enough because it is a miniature version. I am sure it will be good but I wanted the original version.

Came in super quick (almost a week before its estimated delivery) and in perfect condition. A beautiful edition of one of my favorite books ever!

A well written story of the impact of war on young men who are recruited so young that they have no idea of the horrors they will encounter as they face their own deaths and the deaths of the people around them.

I didn't realize that this was a 64 page version. It is for teenagers. It was my fault - I should have seen it. But just be aware this is a kid's version.

Great for homeschooling.

I wanted an English translation of the original work.I received something that looks like it's been written for 10 year old children.The whole thing is a travesty & plays no respect to the original work.Not worth the effort of reading.
