COLUMBINE: The Story of a Terrible American Tragedy

This is simply a retelling of the "facts" that the media has already ground into the dirt about the subject. I use the word facts loosely, as our media is famous for not knowing fact from opinion any more. Neither does the author, sadly. As a teacher myself, and someone who actually lived within walking distance of Columbine at that time, I find this book leaves a lot to be desired. It seems as if the author simply spoke into some dictation software and then hit publish. It would really help if the author edited the spelling, grammar, and flow. But it would still be lacking. It reads like something my 5th graders would write. Perhaps the author is trying to sort through his own feelings about the subject? If nothing else, his book highlights the obvious: Our society has their collective heads in the sand when it comes to seeing the signs of mental illness all around us!

Where do I start? This book is extremely short, has little to no detail, reads like stereo instructions is a bunch of mundane and commonly known facts just thrown together. I admit I should've read more carefully that It was independently published. No self-respecting publisher would have printed this drivel. No sources are listed, The author doesn't write in paragraphs even and didn't take the care to use spellcheck! Pathetically bad do not buy this book!

Very short book with a ton of spelling and grammar issues. Reads like a 5th grader wrote it. Hardly any detail at all. It made sense to me because I’ve done other research so I knew what he was referencing but most people haven’t done that much. So they won’t really learn anything from this book.

How could this tragedy be summed up in 100 large print pages? It can't. I was expecting a several hundred page book--my bad for not studying the details of the book first. I was shocked when I pulled the book from the Amazon envelope--I thought maybe it was an order for large index cards...the Internet has plenty more information than this dumb book...was it really a bestseller??

Three stars because I meant to buy a different ebook and accidentally bought this one.

Too many errors. No new information in this book. Just the same stuff from the news. Not worth the money.

If they had an editor, they should be fired. If they did not, they should have. So many errors it was hard to focus on what I was reading.

I was hoping for more information about the day of. Most everything, I already knew. Kind of a he said, she said book I guess.

It's the worst book I've read. It's full of fiction not facts. The spelling mistakes are awful. This could have been written by a year 5 child who had read one article on Columbine

I had to stop reading this after the first chapter because of all the spelling mistakes and poor grammar. I have no idea why this book was even published. It's absolutely terrible. Save your money.

Ich beschäftige mich schon seit einiger Zeit mit dem Thema Columbine. Dieses Buch jedoch scheint, als ob es von einem Kind geschrieben wäre. Die Fakten sind zusammengestückelt, vermischt mit haarsträubenden Gerüchten. Da werden Eric Harris und Dylan Klebold zu den Machern der Trenchcoatmafia erklärt, Robyn Andreson sei mit Dylan Klebold zusammengewesen etc...Das Geld kann und sollte man sich sparen, es bietet absolut keine neuen Erkenntnisse, dafür aber viel Unwahres. Bin sehr enttäuscht. Hier wurde nicht recherchiert sondern nur sehr lückenhaft abgeschrieben. Würde Minus-Sterne geben wenn möglich!

It's highly readable, but it lacks any scientific or academic value. There are much better books about Columbine. Useful for contextualizing.
