This thing is STURDY. It really is wrought iron and I didn't expect that. I expected something spray painted flat black and was made of hollow alluminum or some such, but I wanted it for the functionality and at least the appearance of wrought iron. Nope. This is the same stuff my cast iron skillets are made of. As you can see, I actually sat it on top of a shelf that is very narrow and it doesn't shift around at all! My four year old managed to get on a chair and get it down and it hit the floor today and is totally fine. I love this thing so much that I want another one for my Book of Shadows so I don't have to set rocks on the pages to hold it open when I'm spell crafting. As appealing as chunks of quartz on a page sounds, it's actually not convenient for it to be laying flat and taking up space in my work area. I know any other pagan practitioners will understand! The ball and chain are heavy and usable and are not merely decorative. This was a brand new book that didn't have a broke in binding and was impossible to keep open without extremely heavy paperweights. The little ledge at the bottom has about a 2 inch lip on it the holds the book open. That's a design feature that many of the other bookstands do not have, and makes a world of difference! Don't hesitate to order this product if you a solid and heavy bookstand that will probably never break. Unless there was some flaw in it when it arrives, it would probably take the fires of Mordor to destroy it lol.

There is nothing I do not like about this cookbook stand. It is attractive and looks a lot more expensive then it actually cost. It is sturdy and holds my cookbooks at a great angle to be read while preparing recipes. It also works well for my IPad when I am using my Kindle cookbooks. I am very pleased with the purchase.

This is a really nice cookbook stand. Well built, not nearly as heavy as I thought it would be. It's sturdy and wide enough to hold even my old lofty tome of Joy of Cooking, so long as the recipe I need is located in the middle 1/3 of the book. Accommodates all of my other books nicely. It does fold down for easy storage. This would be an excellent gift for anyone who enjoys cooking or even for those who don't but must. I'm thrilled with this purchase and would buy it again as a gift.

The stand is very sturdy and lovely and looks great on my kitchen counter. The small balls are weighted just right to hold pages down.

This product is very well made and strong. My cookbooks fit wonderfully. I did not expect it to actually be so nice and sturdy. I love it!

Pros: Solid Construction, Front guard, page holders, overall look, priceCons: Chinese Made productProducts made in China are inferior to American made goods, and are cheaply made and therefore fairly inexpensive to purchase. I usually try to buy quality made goods, reguardless of where they are made, even if I have to pay more for them. Having said that, I am happy with this purchase. The only thing that I am disappointed in, is the fact that the item is indeed a Chinese import. Short of me testing this thing for radiation, everything seems fine with how it is made. Its pretty to look at, the welds on the metal are solid, and the price was cheap. I deducted one star for the product being Chinese made, but 4 stars overall for it actually living up to my expectations. I have actually purchased two of these so far, and will buy another in the future, as they make great birthday gifts.

Exactly what my daughter wanted.

Holds books securely, and has weighted chains to keep the pages flat. It is quite large and does a great job with large cookbooks. The stand folds flat against the back but don't expect the entire thing to be easy to put away, even folded it is still 3 inches thick. I hang it on the wall when it isn't being used. Although it is very sturdy and decorative, the metalwork and welding is more crafty than professional but the imperfections add to its charm.

this book stand is solidly built and beautiful. My only negative comment would be that it is larger than I thought it would be, which might be an issue in a small space, so I suggest measuring.
