How many pieces are in the pattern for the bear all photos show a single piece of fabric and I want options to use several different pieces o fabrics

The pattern is 2 pieces. Front and back. Could use 4 different fabrics. Plus a tail. If you want more individual pieces, use Simplicity C5461.

Why do the animals on the pattern front look like they aren't flat but one of the reviews shows a flat animal?

This pattern is not for flat animals however it really is up to you on how much filler material you put in and how closely you follow the directions, you will notice in the review pictures as well some very full round looking animals

How much material does it take to make a bear?

I didn’t buy material I used my husbands flannel shirts . Made the bears for my grandkids as a keepsake for there pawpaw who died.

What kind of stuffing do you use

I buy inexpensive bed pillows and use the stuffing from those. I packed it pretty good. My granddaughter loved it.
