Best smoker I have ever owned, and I am particular!!
This pellet smoker is awesome. I have used all kinds of smokers over the years. I used to go out in the woods and cut my own hickory trees down. I would cut them up into chunks and use them on a charcoal smoker just to get the smoke flavor. I would get out of bed every 3 hours in the middle of the night just to tend to the wood smoker. Iโve progressed from charcoal to gas smokers, to electric and everything in between even a few DIY builds along the way.. My Masterbuilt electric smoker died a while back and I bought this one. I was skeptical at first that I made the right choice however, after using it several times I have fallen in love. It works great, has a really good flavor, and itโs really easy to use. I know the diehard โpit bossesโ will say anyone can use those and make good food. Well yea, thatโs the point. I just want good food!! I donโt need bragging rights. Iโll let the food do the talking. I was skeptical that it was going to use a lot of pellets, but it doesnโt. It takes a little bit to bring it up at temperature but once it gets there, it just sips on pellets and hardly uses any at all. I have smoked for probably 100 hours at 225* and Iโve only used maybe 40 pounds of pellets $16/ 40lb bag at Loweโs (Walmart is cheaper, but they donโt have a good selection and depending on the time of year all mine has is busted bags no one wants). I wouldnโt use this grill to cook burgers or a steak. Donโt get me wrong you can and I have done burgers. Itโs not the best grill for that though. Like I said, it uses a fair amount of pellets to get up to temp. Running it at high heat for a short period of time is not super efficient. Iโd opt for my charcoal grill for those tasks. IMHO.

Great bang for your buck
Upgraded to a Traeger about 3 months ago and I love it. I've cleaned it out about 3 times, only because I've used it over 8 times since I've bought it and have done cooks that ranged from 6 hours for ribs, to 18 hrs for couple pork shoulders. It definitely builds up pellet debree in the feeder/ignition cup, so if your smoker isn't holding the temp you want, it's more than likely full of debree in that area. Great smoker.

Try pizza on a Traeger itโs the best!
I love our Traeger. If you havenโt tried a pizza on a Traeger then you definitely need to try that we love using the Mesquite pellets. It makes everything taste so yummy. Everyone loves when we barbecue for them. It was not hard to set up at all and we got the cover for and everything so it looks real good sitting on our back porch and we are a huge Traeger fans And recommend them to everyone!! Gets up to heat and holds it nicely!!

= Yum.......... 200% Recomend!
Its a Traeger Smoker..... Come on whats bad about it? Nothing that I can find and I have 8 grill/smokers, and I use all of them for different cooks. I picked up this one because of the price and size. I needed a bigger area for larger smokes. The woking area will do 6 to 8 pork butts or 3 large/4 small packers in on smoke. This thing is a work horse! I ran it 72hrs with out stopping. That week end started with 4 XLT (Extra Large and THICK) packers (18hr x 2) 6 pork butts (10hr) 10 flats of thighs and 10 drum sticks (4hrs x 2) 6 racks of ribs (4hrs) then 8 bellies for bacon (6hrs) Cleaning is simple, holds heat well and the assembly so easy. I built is solo as the only thing you need to do is unpack and build the legs and discard the trash! If its in the tank of the smoker or part of the hopper/auger (short putting the heat plate, dripping ramp and grills in) it ships done. All you do is build the stand and cross brackets. The weight = heavy! Shows up on a pallet. It needs 2 people to move around in the box or build where they drop the pallet. For the price and quality Traeger offeres I would buy a 2nd and pass down my Gen-1 to my kids.... Oh wait they still live at home....

Nice but kinda small
I like this grill but if you cook large amounts of meat then do yourself a favor and get the larger one.

Multiple issues and time spent fixing
I bought the Traeger 34 grill in May 2025 since that time Iโve had replaced the control panel twice the power cord once and now Iโm waiting on another order from Traeger to replace the entire hopper and auger. Iโve spent more time fixing this grill than actually cooking on it (exaggerated but you ge the point). I think you would have easier conversations with a car dealership admitting they sold you a lemon than this company. Iโve spent hours on the phone with customer support troubleshooting. Iโm now going to replace the entire grill except for the cooking hood. Fortunately they will send the parts but itโs your time to fix it. When it works, the grill is great. However, it has shut off three times midcook leaving me scrambling with guests And spending my weekends as a mechanical engineer part-time for Traeger. I wouldnโt buy this again or recommend it. Itโs unfortunate because I was looking forward to this purchase for some time.

Impressive "BBQ" NOT a "grill"
Pros: Size (so many pork butts) Ease of use (flip switch, that's it) Smoking performance (low and stable) Temperature accuracy (see picture) Cons: Doesn't "grill" very well (but I have a gas grill for that) Long form: Quick background I've owned a different brand pellet grill for 8 years, I'm very familiar with how they work. #1 recommendation to every new user, DON'T use Traeger pellets, they are GARBAGE. Lumberjack if you can (supreme mix is great), Bear mountain is good, so are CookingPellets Perfect mix. You need a pellet with both a decent amount of a mild heat wood like oak, and 30%+ actual flavor wood. Traeger pellets are "flavored" alder, all around mediocre. 100% oak works well and provides heat well. For flavor go with a blend like a hickory (bacony), or apple (sweet), or mesquite for that Texas twang. Supreme mix and perfect mix are great all-around. I bought this for smoking, period. The barrel design, indirect heat, plus very low temperature stability (holds 150 or 180 great) is fantastic for smoking meat low and slow. This was an area my last grill was mediocre. My past efforts and my many future plans for this thing, none involve temps over 250. On the flip side this is NOT for high heat cooking. I can get it up to over 400 (see picture, note that was with good pellets), but my old pellet grill would do 550 with direct heat, and my gas grill almost 700. Not using this for steaks or burgers, so it doesn't bother me, but I hopefully save some people a headache.

consistant heat and no flare ups
Very easy to assemble. Heat is consistent with no flare ups like a propane BBQ. Only drawback would be takes 20 mins to preheat so you have to be patient. Grilled 2" steaks and turned out perfect.
