How Many of These Five Star Reviews Were Paid??
Everything found in this book can be found in other books of the same subjects. The difference? You can find said other books with the same information yet WITHOUT the gloating, arrogant attitude of the compulsively lying author. From the introduction onward Clint Emerson reminds you over and over that he thinks he's James Bond. The arrogance and so called (half or un)"true" stories he claims to be the main character of is ridiculous. Clint would probably fit in with most survivalist or tacticool groups out there and coming from me, a self described prepper, that's not a compliment. He literally comes off as the role-playing stereotype of what people generally think of when they hear the words "prepper", " survivalist " or "operator". The best part is he's trademarked his "system" , called the Total Awareness System, yet his "system" comprises the same knowledge you can find in any other books about intelligence gathering and/or situational awareness, except most of those books are straightforward and without all of the pompous grandeur. In closing I recommend you research just about ANY other book other than this one about these subjects and I'd also suggest staying away from any other books Clint had put out as I'm sure they're probably just as self aggrandizing. I can't believe the print version of this book goes for as much as it does online and even at only $9.99 the book is too expensive for the content. Stay far away, you've been warned...

Good book
I didnt read the Part 2 of this book. It didn’t make sense to me but Part 1 is pretty decent and shares most of things that is common sense but then again common sense is not so common these days.

Self awareness- the key to everyday survival
Even though this book is written for OCONUS travel, I feel that the information contained within the book can help anyone heighten their sense of self/ environmental awareness. Mr. Emerson hit the ball out of the park with this book and made me realize a lot of issues that go unnoticed to the general public on a daily basis. I would recommend this to anyone who will be traveling OCONUS or anyone who is simply interested in learning about a new subject/ topic.

Not like his other books
There are no pictures in this book and it isn’t organized like the author’s other books. It’s very useful though.

Essential reading before travelling abroad....and at home.
Much of this information can be adopted to your everday life to keep you clear of trouble, but the most important aspect is the book serving as a wake up call to traveling abroad. I'm a US citizen who has seen some of this play out in my own life, but I amazed at how naive Americans are when they travel. They seem to believe the US travels with them forming a "bubble" of protection and this is when they get in trouble. Every country has it's own set of laws and rules and you need to know the rules of the game before you agree to play.PS Your rights as a US citizen don't apply in another country's legal system.

Timely read indeed.....
Enjoyed reading this book. A common sense read for risk averse people, not necessarily paranoid, given the state of security and criminal violence that has taken grip of our society.
