As a reader and (eternally aspiring!) writer,I love this beautiful inspiring little book.Son of outstanding poet, William Stafford,Kim Robert Stafford has his own unique and beautiful style.There is succinct eloquence in his prose that,at times, is so poetically breath-taking ~ one must stop,go back and re-read the given passage to savour thehidden nuance of deeper meaning.Stafford never rambles or drifts, he does not dwellin the shallows of wandering verbosity ~each word he writes carries depth and insight,each chapter enriches perception.This is pure literary kindling for any writer~ especially those who feel their creativity needsa little motivating spark...With every page, it serves to remind the readerof the original joy to be found in artistic craft.

I found the author humble, authentic, and unpretentious unlike some other creative writing professors. The author shared ideas I will use in my own writing and teaching. This was an enjoyable read and worth the money.

Again this year I am rereading Kim's book, which is like dessert to the mind and emotions--a food that secretly holds protein and all the needed nutrients. The Muses Among Us has a different way of inspiring me in each chapter. Have to keep paper and pen nearby so that I don't forget the new ideas I now want to try out, or to do new variations on the old drafts, to write down what this reminds me of that I momentarily forgot. Reading this book makes writing feel necessary, important, and possible

wonderful writer, great content.

I chose the 5-star ranking, because this book really IS a wonderful book. It's the second or third one I've bought. I gave one to a friend, loaned another out, which hasn't returned yet, so since I had to have one here in my office, I bought another. Kim Stafford has inspired many many writers with his wit and creative words.

The condition of this book was listed as "used/very good," but there's a distinct bit of water damage on one corner. Hardly "very good."
