If at first you don't succeed... try, try again!
A little background history... we rescued an adult cat who was being fostered. There was no medical history, all we knew as it had "allergies" and that it wasn't gaining any weight (skin and bones!). It was a pure bred Tonkinese female and I quickly suspected it was ill. I got it to my vet quickly to discover it not only had an upper respiratory infection, but hyperthyroidism and it was older than first suspected. Why the foster "parent" never had any blood work done on a senior cat with no medical history is beyond me, but at least I save a life. Anyway, after a bout of pancreatitis from the stress of moving her, and on top of that, into a home with 8 other cats, we were able to start giving her the thyroid pills. At first, she gobbled up the cream cheese "treats" and everyone was happy, then 2 days later, cream cheese gone, little pink pill is on the floor... next step, pry open mouth, pop down throat, hold mouth shut until she swallows. Wise cat, she won't swallow, spits pill out. Next step, pry open mouth. pop down throat, hold mouth shut, get plastic syringe with water and put water down her throat several times. Unfortunately, in the time it took too get the water, she had time to hide the pill and spit it out after a few bouts of water! Clearly, she's taken pills before! That's when I went hunting for these so called pill guns. This one looked the best, because it had the water and on occasion, the water trick did work, just not always. So, did it work? Yes, it works! Let's start with what not to do. 1. Do not put it the side of the cats mouth. While this works for liquid medications, it doesn't work for this. This seems to leak a lot of the water out, thus not giving the full amount and leaving room for wise cats to still be able to spit the pill out. Lesson learned. 2. Do not do this slowly, thinking it's "nicer" for the cat, this allows for them to be able to separate pill from water and spit the pill out. Again, lesson learned. Now, let's talk about the correct way to to do it. 1. Fill the entire barrel with water (as far as it will let you, which is not all the way). 2. Wedge the pill in the tip, it's perfect for thyroid pills! 3. Place about half of the white part (see picture) into the FRONT of the cats mouth (see above, not the side!) and QUICKLY (see above, not slowly) push down and administer the water/pill as quickly as possible. This may seem like you are going to gag your cat on water, but trust me, you don't. They swallow very quickly and they don't have time to react to the surge of water and the pill mixed in with it, thus they can't sort pill from water and they have to swallow it. Note: They will be peeved. Probably for hours. They may bite, hiss, scratch, and hold a grudge for who knows how long. They may put a 21 pound cat in their place w/in minutes of having received said pill - yes, this has happened and it was quite comical. They may in fact hiss at every cat (And human) they come in contact with an refuse treats just to spite themselves. However, beware, as every other cat in your house will expect a treat just for putting up with the madness of the now peeved cat. You were warned. I highly recommend this product if you have a pill spitting cat! However, I will say that I don't know if a large pill would fit in the tip.

Does not work like I thought it would
I was very excited to get this Pill Popper because no one in my area carries them. Unbelievable, I know. So happy to finally try and administer medications that I've been waiting to give my cats. But the Pill Popper is not very good quality you pull on the plunger and it's kind of goes sideways it will not fill all the way with liquid. And to use it by filling it partially with liquid and the pill inside the end of the proper, which they say could help get the medication down your cat's throat. The liquid flies everywhere and the pill stays in the end of the popper the pill will not release or sorry the popper will not release the pill just ridiculous. So I don't know if they're all like that but I know that this one doesn't work.

Nice and effective way to administer meds to your pet
My cat has to take prednisone every other day and at times it’s very difficult to get her to open her mouth long enough to pop the pill in. This makes it so much easier. I wish I had found this years ago. It would’ve saved a lot of time and heartache trying to get my poor cat to swallow a pill.

Little liquid worked 1st go
My cat has to have essentially 2 pills a day for the rest of his life. He is 16 lbs and I have no one to help me pilling him. The ordeal is generally a bloody (for me) disaster (for both of us). I don't feel comfortable with the long pill guns out of concern of poor control (granted not yet tried). I wanted to be sure I got something with a soft but non removable tip. I do wish the tip on this was softer, I feel like this could still be harsh on the throat. I just read the reviews and tried it for the first time and it worked GREAT. I have a standard gel capsule and did use a little low sodium organic chicken broth mixed with some potassium powder he has to take and luckily doesn't mind the flavor of. (I am not a vet just know sodium should be low, small amount only, and wanted the experience to not be entirely awful). I didn't want to use much liquid for fear of choking or going down his windpipe. I only had maybe a quarter or less of the thick area of this syringe with liquid. This also meant the syringe wasnt extended too far back to ensure the motion was quick. My plunger does make a squeak sound another reviewer mentioned and does get a bit stuck when the plunger is farther back but with how little liquid I used it was smooth and silent. I always try meds in food 1st and treats 2nd before pilling because I swear I hate it worse than he does. He's too smart for his own good so there's no telling how future attempts may go but I was impressed with the first go.

Works ok, better than having your hand bitten by your fur baby
I got this after trying to give pills to my cats and they just refused to eat it, I even got bit a couple times, so I figured I needed a pill popper to help me give the pills to my cats without losing a finger! This worked well for the most part, although the tip is a little bit harder than I would like it to be, especially for my Persian Cats, who tend to be very sensitive. I waited to make this review until after used the tool for a while, and unfortunately, after a while, the tip tends to stay open and not hold the pills very well I just used it a couple minutes ago and the pill that I was giving my cat was very small, so I had a really difficult time with the tool to hold the pill in place, as a cat falling out before I could get into my cats mouth. But overall, the tour is great. It’s better than losing a finger lol. If you’re a cat lover, you definitely want to get something like this weather is for vitamins or medication. Just get this and you will take me later.!

Great tool! Makes it much less traumatic for my cat.
This actually works. I have one cat with hypothyroidism and he is fast and I couldn't catch him to give him his meds. But after using this a couple of times he thinks this is not as bad as me shoving my fingers down his throat. This is much less traumatizing for him and I don't get my finger bit anymore. He won't touch cat treats so I can't hide his in a treat like I do for his brother. I'm so glad I got this. Our relationship was going downhill because he was so traumatized by having a pill shoved down his throat. He wouldn't come sit on the back of my recline anymore and he wouldn't come sot in my lap anymore because he was so mad at me. Now he's letting me walk up to him again. We are slowly getting back to normal.

Horrible and doesn't work!
This is a waste of money. It doesn't hold the pills, they either slip/fall out or pop out when loading it. If i could give a 0 star review on this i would!

Junk. Won't "grab" pills properly.
We have a lot of cats. We have administered a LOT of pills to said cats. That being said we have also used a lot of different pill poppers for our cats. Last year we moved and encountered a huge issue with tape worms from our cats eating bugs (We moved to the country). After tons of visits to the vet at $60 a pop we decided to give an OTC tape worm medication a try. Unfortunately, in our move we misplaced out pill popper so we bought this. Huge mistake. I should have bought a nicer one. This thing is pretty much useless. Its all plastic and really flimsy. It will not accomodate large pills. It will not accomodate small pills. No matter what pill we have tried with this popper the pill ALWAYS falls out, rolls across the floor and gets lost. We end up having to cut our pills up into quarters and administering them immediately and still risk losing it. IDK. Its just been a huge hassle. It doesnt really glab the pills if that makes sense. Its the equivelent of plascing a pill in chopsticks and trying to administer it. I know its cheap but dont waste your money. Spend your money on a good piller. Youll make that money back in all of the pills you DONT lose from a crappy pill popper like this.,

Es muy cómodo para dar los medicamentos a mi gato ya que antes me lastimaba con sus dientes afilados , ahora es mas rápido dar cualquier tipo de medicamento y el diseño es muy cómodo y fácil de usar.

This is a literal life saver
My very old, arthritic cat got diagnosed with a new issue (hyperthyroidism) and needed to start a new medication, but it's twice a day and she's always been terrible with handling pills. In this case, we had the option to order a medicated ointment if the pills didn't work but it's prohibitively expensive, so if I couldn't get her to take the pills.... well, I was prepared for that decision but I'm glad I didn't have to do it. A friend suggested this and it does the job perfectly! I can manage holding my cat and getting her mouth open with one arm (and both legs, I don't have a helper for this! lol) and I can get the pill popper in her mouth and shoot it in with a little squirt of water with the other hand, no problem. It only took a week for her to realize that it isn't so bad, so now we've got a routine and very little struggle at all. She's still an old girl with health problems so her clock is ticking, but this little thing enabled me to noticeably, easily, improve and extend her life for which I'm grateful.

Really handy!
Really useful for shooting pills down your cranky cat's gullet deep enough they can't spit them back up!

l'article ne tient pas ensemble, le piston se tord dès que vous le bouger et l'embout est très gros pour la petite bouche de chat, très déçu
