Winsome Carter 29" Teak Finish Bar Stool

This is a simple, beautiful stool. I'll be using it as an aquarium stand to go in a tight spot. It holds 220 pounds, and my 10-gallon aquarium weighs about 150 with water, substrate, and stones. I'm fastening a thick wood cutting board on top of the seat to make it the right size for the tank.I had no problem putting the stool together -- once I noticed that the cross pieces have angled ends and so can only go in one way to fit properly. I also didn't have trouble with the pocket screws that hold the seat on. The trick is to look at the angle of the hole and put the screw in at the same angle. Yes, it takes some effort, but it makes the seat tight and safe.My only complaints are 1) that the tops of the big screws strip out if you're not careful (although this is how all screws are nowadays, so no points deducted), and 2) the wood surface scratches fairly easily. I'm used to this since I buy a lot of this inexpensive solid wood furniture (so, again, no points deducted). If you want to avoid this so the stool stays scratch free, before you put the pieces together, coat the wood with a good hardening wax or clear polyurethane. That step not being done during manufacturing is one reason this furniture is so inexpensive. For me to do this extra step is worth it so I can have beautiful furniture at an affordable price.Seriously, I have tons of solid wood furniture from Winsome Wood (and a few other manufacturers) that is gorgeous and sturdy. Much sturdier than MFD pieces that cost as much and usually more, but warp and fall apart. If taken care of, Winsome Wood's solid wood furniture is just as well made and will last like the expensive stuff.

Good value for money, easy to put together, good height to go behind chair for fountain, very pleased, seems sturdy, color blends well with other furniture, good for many uses. Would buy again.

This stool arrived today. My son put it together with a power tool. The supplied wrench would have taken me a while. I am SO PLEASED this stool is so well made and heavy duty. Extremely satisfied. I needed to get my tree up higher than my low table. (This is one of the mini trees you get at Christmas). My tree has grown A LOT over the years. This stool is beautiful and I really recommend it. I may need a few more 😁

I purchased this stool to use while drying my hair of a morning.I would not have been able to assemble this stool if I weren’t handy with tools. The holes drilled to hold the seat on the stool are misplaced. Two were good. Two were not. I had to drill new pilot holes and then used the drill with a screwdriver bit to attach the seat. It’s put together and it’s sturdy now but it shouldn’t have been so much trouble.When you put the stool upside down on the floor to assemble, put a towel down first. The seat scratches very easily.But after all this, I like the stool.

The stools, which I am going to use as speaker stands, are not too terribly hard to assemble. I think they look great and are very stout. I would recommend.

I am recovering from a bad spill caused by this stool falling apart. It was difficult to put together to begin with - the holes don't line up properly, and the screws strip some of the holes. To be on the safe side, I reinforced all of the joints with name-brand heavy-duty wood glue, cured it for a week.....and still ended up on the floor. Now I'm out almost $50, my dignity, and possibly doctor bills. Do not recommend unless you are extremely handy with woodworking and can completely reinforce the entire stool somehow.

Happily, I found a very good match to some I had on hand for years. My originals were purchased already put together so I was a little perturbed that had to do it, but it was super easy bing bang boom. Glad I bought it.

This is a quality item. A fabulous price.Unless you have the strength of the Incredible Hulk or Superman in your hands and arms, you have to have a strong electric/cordless drill/screwdriver to put it together. Use at least a 8V, not a 4V. Wood was too hard to get the screws in more than 80%. Would definitely buy again & recommend - just need to be prepared first.

I bought 2 of these for my outdoor bar. They go together well and appear very sturdy. Very pleased.

Incredibly difficult to put together. Must keep rungs loose to have any hope of fitting them into the holes on the legs, but doing so takes work. The rung ends are flat, the stool legs are slanted - impossible to screw tightly. 3 legs sit flat on the floor, 1 is 1/2 shorter. Seat won't fit on as one hole is 1/2" out. The stain is nice and if the stool could be constructed it would be a nice piece of furniture.

I use it as a plant stand. Beautiful piece of furniture made of solid wood. Easy to assemble.
