I added a 120gb SSD and created Fusion drive. Runs better than new now.

my iMac 27" mid-2011 hard drive decided to crap out on my (see review for OWC in-line digital sensor for iMac 2011 that i wrote also). I decided to replace the original 1TB internal HD with a 120GB SSD and 3TB bulk HD. So after some searching online i found this cable was probably what i needed. If you buy this , use the ifixit and OWC tutorials. Take your time and it should work. My hard drive installations took me about 1hr 30 minutes from start to finish, and i was able to get my computer back up and running after a crashed hard drive.my only complaints is that i didn't receive any adhesive, despite the amazon description. This wasn't an issue because i had some heavy duty double sided tape at home, but just letting you know.

Great quality product, packaging and instructions. Cable worked perfectly.
Cable was as expected. It's working fine so far and seems to be of good quality. My only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is the price. $18 for a short cable is a little steep. Not a huge complaint, but just a little feedback. I'd buy it again. Overall I'm very happy and I would recommend this product and this seller. Thanks for great product.

Made my 27" iMac run like new and still keep my CD-ROM drive and main HDD
I had an internal HDD enclosure that replaced the CD-ROM drive for a second HDD, but after getting this adapter and following the install instructions to the t, the iMac now retains both the main HDD and CD-ROM drive, and additionally have a SSD that gives a new life to my aging iMac!Just make certain to go thru the instructional video before actually doing the install, since it requires some careful planning and handling near the fragile electronic components, compared to just replacing CD-ROM drive with an HDD enclosure. Otherwise in the worst case you may damage the motherboard if not careful. Best bet is to hire a neighbor technician.But it was well worth it!
